Real Colorado Cup and College Showcase Empty Real Colorado Cup and College Showcase

Several North Texas teams headed out west this past weekend to the Real Co Cup and College Showcase held in Denver and represented North Texas well.

I would encourage all teams to look at this event as you plan next year's tournaments. It was incredibly well run with strong competition. The older teams (U15 and up) played at the Dick's Sporting goods fields at the Colorado MLS stadium fields. There were well over 100 college coaches in attendance.

In the boys brackets (by my count) there were six teams competing with one champion and two finalist bringing metals back.

Congrats to the 02 Dallas Texans FTW team coached by Jim Faber for winning the silver bracket.
The 04 Dallas Texans FTW team coached by Jim Faber was a finalist in the platinum division and the 00 Dallas Texans FTW coached by Ben Williams was a finalist in their gold bracket play!

On the girls side 12 teams traveled from the north Texas area bringing back six championships and one finalist.

This tournament was extremely well ran. The tournament director Cindy Thomas and staff was unbelievably good. The weather Saturday was crazy. I have never experienced all 4 seasons within 8 hours. The rain Saturday would have cancelled any tournament here in NTX but they pressed on without any delays. We had a very good problem to have on Monday with both our 02s and 04s in the finals one at 9:40 and the other at 11:00 at 2 different parks 30mins apart. I spoke with Cindy Sunday night by 6am Monday she moved both our games to Dicks Sporting Goods park on back to back fields. Any other time that has happened here in NTX they have never helped us.

I would highly recommend this tournament to anyone wanting to travel out of state. As a bonus for the most part all the ref's were actually good. Very Happy I think it helped the tournament that there was an international refereeing conference in town the same week in Denver.
