Week 7 Projections?!?

DRAIN THE SWAMP!!  No, not a political statement but I'm desperate here.  My family can't handle another weekend without a soccer game to schedule around.  Please, please, please let Richland be dry enough this weekend.  Since the majority of teams haven't played in a full month, we could see some surprising results!

Saturday games-
FCD Academy v Elite   5-1
TXN South v Celtic  1-3
FCD West v Wildcatters   2-3
FCD Youth v Ayses  1-2
TXN Dallas v Allegiance  1-0
TXN Red v LP St John   8-0
Solar McKinney v Tigres  5-0
LP Owen v FCD ETX  2-1
Solar Kennington v Fever  4-1
Rebels v FCD Blue  6-0

Sunday Games-Originally week 4.  Since only 4 games were played I'll accept projections for the remaining 6 games.  Any submissions already received can't be amended however.

LP St John v Tigres   1-2
Rebels v FCD ETX  4-0
TXN South v Fever  1-2
TXN Dallas v LP Owen  2-0
TXN Red v Elite  3-1
McKinney v Allegiance  2-2

Apparently the crack habit I picked up while waiting for the rain to stop has fried my brain. Disregard 2nd half of post. No Sunday games this weekend.

did everyone see the new DA teams?  I didn't think Adrian would get his request but he got it for Solar and another for Texans.

Going to have a diluted Classic league for 2018-2019

A bunch of tight games and some really rough soccer out there today. Almost hard to watch at times for the ones I saw.

Hopefully the kids will all get back into form by next weekend.

Does this mean 2 separate DA teams of 24 each for Solar and Texans?

Wow....that is 96 kids right there....plus another 24 from FC Dallas...

I'm assuming Solar West will be based in Grapevine? (McKinney??) and Solar will continue their DA practices in Farmer's Branch?

What about FC Dallas? If any of the clubs needed a "WEST" DA team it would have been FC Dallas....

120 KIDS out of Classic next year!! Very Happy

Post by Ant_Knee 3/11/2018, 7:29 pm

I just took a look at the 06 DA roster numbers and this is what I see:

Solar roster - 25 (4 of which are 07 kids)
FC Dallas roster - 32 (4 of which are 07 kids)
Texans roster - 26 (1 of which is 07)

So at a bare minimum next year I would say yes 24 player roster x 5 DA teams would mean 120 kids or roughly 10 teams worth of kids pulled from Classic league or outliers from other leagues.

I also notice FC Dallas safeguarding some of their 07 kids pulling them into 06 DA practice. Those kids were not there at the beginning of the year. At least not on the roster.

I assume FC Dallas didn't make the request, I really don't know. If you look at the rest of the state Dynamo was granted another DA spot so they have Houston Dynamo, Houston Dynamo Youth, and now Houston Dynamo South for u12.

I have no idea where everyone plans to practice, call home, etc. at the moment.

As a parent who is going through U12 DA this year, here are some of the things that I think folks should look at before deciding if U12 DA is right for your BB. This is purely from my experience.

1. Highly competitive league. Your kids will be facing real good competition each week. All the teams that we have played against try to play soccer.
2. Be ready to play soccer 5 times a week. Three practice sessions and sometimes two games in the weekend.
3. 32 games in a season without counting any tournaments. This involves a lot of travel and can get expensive with hotel costs, gas, food etc. With out of town tournaments and travel costs, this can easily add up to additional 2-3K in my opinion.
4. Tryout early for the teams.
5. There are still DA games left in the season, so my suggestion is for parents to go and look at the games now.
6. Look at how each coach handles the team. It helps if you know who the coach will be for the specific DA club. You have to watch the real games to get a feel of the coaches not only practices.
7. As kids go from U12 to U13 not all kids will make it, plus there is no re-entry in U13. So all of us have to understand that we may be doing it for 1 year.
8. One more thing, parents have to get along otherwise it will be a very long year 
Good Luck

Great observations!!

Number 7 in particular. Some of these clubs with 48 kids (24 in each team) will likely only have one team at U13. So there will possibly be 30 kids that wont make it at these clubs. Most of them will likely be back playing Classic in 12 months. SO if your BB is not in the top third, is the one and done at DA worth it?

The issue here is, if you want your kid to stay in Classic, then yes, you want very well may want him in u12 DA even if its likely he gets pushed back to Classic at u13.

Scenario - 48 kids go to DA at u12. Solar enters u12 Classic with 3 D1 teams (assuming either Martinez or Volkan promote), all massively depleted in talent. They pool that talent to maintain at least 1 D1 slot. The other two teams are going to be fodder in u12 D1 and be lucky to avoid relegation. 32 kids remain in DA (16 per team) at u13, 16 get pushed out to CL. Those kids then get placed on a new Solar team (which would more than likely be designated the top team, and that team takes a D1 bye from another Solar team (a team that earned it), effectively pushing a D1 Solar team down to D2 if a D2 bye exists or to Plano if there isn't a D2 bye.

How happy is your kid going to be if he plays u12 Classic, fights and claws to maintain that D1 slot, then the club hands it to the kids cut from DA at u13 and even though his team earned a D1 slot, his team is now playing D2 or lower.

Has happened with both National and Regional Premier Leagues as well as Classic League byes in the past.

For the record, Solar will have a only one U13 DA team. Solar West only adds a U12 DA group according to this article: http://www.ussoccerda.com/20180309-news-16-new-clubs-added-for-2018-2019-season

That means 32 of the 48 kids doing U12 next year (or more with transfers) will be back in classic... That's a lot of dreams crushed after one season of play.

So how many kids who start DA at U12 are still in it at the end? I guess that it is always good to get in early and establish yourself, but it seems like the game changes when it becomes 11x11, bodies change as they enter puberty, and priorities can change when they enter high school. Younger kids might also be more susceptible to burnout with the extra practices and travel as well.

Typically when they add the U12 DA at a club it is in anticipation of next year adding U13, and so on each year. At least adding a few years and possibly consolidating at the oldest 2 age groups. This way they grow DA from the bottom up.

If you scroll down on your link you will see previous year (this year) clubs with only u12 getting u13+ teams added to the upcoming year. It's under this heading:

ACADEMY CLUBS ADDING AGE-GROUPS FOR 2018-19 SEASON

The 5 new clubs added to DA in Texas for next year will follow the same model to add new age groups to the following 2019-2020 season.

The only bit I saw was extremely physical between the Allegiance center back and McKinny’s Big Forward...traded hard fouls, one was a yellow. This was in about a 60 second walk by.

Promotion/Relegation watch: Bottom 4 from D1 get relegated and top 4 from D2 get promoted for next year.

Relegation battle-
FCD West Blue- ends the season with Fever. A win or tie in this game pretty much guarantees their safety.

Fever- controls their own fate. Win vs FCD West and they're in.

LP St John- Still mathematically in it but with remaining games vs LP Owen, Solar McKinney, and Allegiance their outlook is grim

Tigres- Need the rest to lose out and pick up a win vs Saurez, Ayses, or Wildcatters. Loss yesterday to LP St John pretty much sank their hopes.

My pick...Fever

Promotion battle-
Rush- 1 more win should be plenty to secure a spot.

Legends- Hard to believe but a late season slip up to LP Carragher would be disastrous, likely dropping them to 5th.

Solar Martinez- Matches up with Rayos next, winner wraps up a top 4 finish. Martinez could still sneak in if they win the final 2.

LP Carragher- For all the mid-season hype, they are looking very vulnerable right now. Anything short of winning out (including vs Legends) and they're looking at a 5th place finish.

Solar Volkan- Needs to win 4 remaining games (very doable) but also need help from just about everybody in front of them.

My final four...
1. Rush
2. Legends
3. Martinez
4. Rayos

Also consider which D1 top teams are removed from D1 due to DA (Mckinney, Stavrou, Salazar, Gall, etc) and the D2 teams that will replace them with the bye.

So really...
FCD West Blue is staying up if they earn it or not.
DTS is staying up on a bye.
If Martinez stays in the top 4 then Volkan is moving up with the bye.
If by some MIRACLE, Volkan AND Martinez made top 4 D2, then Solar M/L takes the bye...

That still leaves 2 byes on the table, who knows what teams could be recruited to change clubs to take the last byes.
