Re: State Cup Schedules Posted
The 99B brackets have some good matchups.
Bracket A, Andromeda will have a tough road on the first day, playing Texans and Solar Red with only a few hours break.
Bracket B, Solar matches up against Texans South and Comets Blue in a similar alignment. Solar has a good defense. We'll see how their firepower has increased over the last several weeks.
Bracket C, with 4 teams is also very competitive. Who will helm the FCD team? No coach is listed. Will they combine players to field an All-Star roster?

By the way, you don't need all that gunk in there. Just take the gotsoccer link for any event and change the "Event ID" to the event you want to see. 8852 in this case.

The brackets are down because I believe they got Solar and Gunners backwards. If I'm not mistaken, Solar had a higher seeding at the end of Spring than Gunners and thus they have those two teams swapped, we'll see.finish1 wrote:The 99B brackets have some good matchups.

"Solar Firepower", that is a fictional concept. They scored a total of one goal (1 in the last game against Figo) in their last 5 games of the season, so unless they sent their scorers to Smith & Wesson for intense training recently, ummmm, it will be more of the same. The best they can hope for are ties and shootouts.
Ok, let me touch on your FCD question with a couple comments;
1. Suarez seems to have pulled that team together and certainly had them playing much better the last few weeks of the season, which to me is a great sign. I certainly don't know the ins and outs of the FCD politics, parents, etc. etc., but why would you want to mess with a team that seems to be coming into its own and achieved 4th place in D1? Ok, so the rumor is a new coach will be taking that team over to satisfy who knows who, a mistake IMO.
2. Where exactly are the new studs for this new superteam going to come from? Certainly not from within FCD. Suarez already pulled a kid from Central. You would think that if Blue had 2-3 studs, they would have won more than 1 game out of 19. And nobody will be leaving Figo for another FCD team, the koolaid over there is stronger than it was at Jonestown.

Oh and one other thing; While we are on the topic of FCD and rumors of a new coach, I have heard that the same may be in the works for Solar, could it be? Maybe they'll bring Carlo Ancelotti over to convince kids to stay............

Bracket C, competitive with some really great games. Axx, I agree with your assessment of FCD. They got a good thing going on. Figo as a cult leader. There's a concept for ya.

Re: State Cup Schedules Posted
It's not your studs that cost you games it's your kids on the bottom and blue had way too many of those. Neither the texans or andro are overwhelmed with studs. They have a few like everyone else. What both teams lack is the presence of weak players. Don't worry anyway, you can't change a roster for the state cup. FCD may change the rosters but hopefully it's not for the purpose of winning more games.Axxman wrote:The brackets are down because I believe they got Solar and Gunners backwards. I was wondering when you were going to reply. Don't agree with your assessment. Yes, teams like Craft don't have weaknesses, and I would venture to say that they do have many studs. Put those kids on other teams and they will be studs for sure. And besides, you have 2 or 3 studs on your team, and that alone should be good for a few wins. Inconsistency perhaps, but a few wins and a surprise or two thrown in there. I'll give you an example that comes to the top of my head quite quickly, the Comets.
As to your second comment, we are not talking about rosters for the State Cup, we are talking about the coach. The roster would be for the future superteam.

Axxman- I have to agree with Go99. I think it's the back end of your roster.especially if your weak with players 10 and 11 that make a difference. Personally, besides Craft and maybe one kid on Suarez and Hernandez I didn't see a ton of "studs".

LOL, can't really argue with the koolaid comparison (that's pretty funny actually), but there is good reason to drink the koolaid. BB is playing such better soccer these days and having a blast doing it. His love for the game has gone through the roof lately and a lot of that has to do with Figo and how he treats the boys. He works them probably harder than most coaches (in my estimation) but at the same time makes sure they have some fun when he can. The end result is improved players that are having fun. I'd say that equals money well spent.Axxman wrote:The brackets are down because I believe they got Solar and Gunners backwards. The bottom of blue is worse than the bottom of comets. And disagree if you like but the texan team just like all the other teams in CL still has it's studs that show above the others on the team. So does Andro, the real question is always which is bb. There are some who bask is glowing rays of glory and those who cause it to shine. The ones who cause it to shine will move up and the others will eventually be helped to move on. The kids on blue are exactlly who I told the club they were before they locked the roster. You can't fault the few good kids for the results.Axxman wrote:I was wondering when you were going to reply. Don't agree with your assessment. Re: State Cup Schedules Posted
I like figo as a coach, but he has an overconfidence in coaching. Unless his team shakes the leaves a bit they will always struggle with level of talent. I always san he is a coach not a magician. He can make players better and more organized and has done a great job at it. You cannot turn an untalented kid into a great player. Bobby once said you can teach a kid all the techiques and strategies but it eventually comes down to his ability to compete with the player in front of him. Would love to see figo with a team stacked with talent. A few solid players and maybe a stud or 2 added to his team might be impressive.forbin wrote:LOL, can't really argue with the koolaid comparison (that's pretty funny actually), but there is good reason to drink the koolaid.
And nobody will be leaving Figo for another FCD team, the koolaid over there is stronger than it was at Jonestown.

not a lot of room to talk. You were in the entire Blue team sucks and has no business in CL group. It was also in response to axx's contention that blue has no good kids. Coincedentially where was this same consternation for axx's comment? If I didn't know any better I'd say you were picking on me. To smooth things over, lets say blue has no weak players and they are strong top to bottom. I am sure they appreciate your LATE show of concern Geesh

Of the d1 teams who has the best roster top to bottom? Is it really the order of finish or do the top 5 teams just have the "studs".

go99 wrote:The bottom of blue is worse than the bottom of comets.
BTW GO, this isn't personal as I'm sure you know and by no means am I referring to your bb, I'm just talking generalities for the most part. But for fun's sake, let's replace the top three players on Blue with the top three players on the Comets and you don't think Blue wins more than 1 game?
