Re: 55 Seniors invited to 2015 MLS Combine
I would like to see some players from nonD1 programs added to the list. I know one of the top first round picks last year came from a D2 school. And a central defender from d3 Redlands also was offered a contract. (Philadelphia I believe.)
There are quite a few nonD1 players rostered on PDL/NPSL teams. Which, supposedly are better venues as the level of play is perceived to be higher.
Below MLS, there are quite a few nonD1 players rostered on USLpro and NASL teams.
Being a blue chip recruit at 17/18 doesn't always translate to being a star draft pick at 21/22.
The moral of the story being perception is often quite different than reality.
College soccer being an 'equivalency' or 'nonrevenue' sport means the talent pool is much more spread out than football and basketball. Even the NFL drafts players from outside D1.

Totally agree!!! MLS is doing a dis-service by only inviting D1 players.

Re: 55 Seniors invited to 2015 MLS Combine
Theres no question that the majority of the better players are going to come from d1. I'm not disputing that.
I chalk it up to 'convenience'. Similar to why d1 colleges mainly recruit from the DA.
