Interesting to see Andromeda Haylock, easily a top 5 team that did well in the Super Copa, playing in Silver.   And an 07 team playing in gold.

Scheduling error?

Agree! Andromeda Haylock 06B playing in Silver division does not make sense.

I know Haylock was trying to start a 2nd team. Maybe that's the team entered into Silver. I know Haylock wouldn't put his top team into Silver, willingly. He doesn't shy away from competition.

can anyone comment on the 06 teams that payed in the tournament? how did the out of town teams play in terms of skills? Also was surprised to see FCD Gomez lost 5-2 in the semis.

- Haylock's team was his 2nd team
- I too was shocked, shocked, shocked that the Texans-South beat FCD Gomez in the semis. Seeing both teams this week, the outcome makes no sense. But congrats to the Texans for making the finals.
- The 07 team didn't score a goal. Often playing up doesn't work out so well.

All the teams were fun to watch, a Gomez/ Solar final would have been interesting with the Solar defense as strong as it was. Liverpool scored 18 goals on the tournament and were held to zero against Solar and the Texans scored 16 were held to zero. Both Liverpool and the Texans have very strong offensive fronts. Solar gave up the least number of goals in the division 2 and held all teams scoreless on Sunday. They definitely got stronger offensively as the tournament went on as well. I think by nature Gomez is more physical than Solar, but it would have been a good match.

We spoke to Haylock and that was definitely his second team, his first team was taking a break. Looks like there is the potential for a lot of movement among the top teams in this age group this summer especially if 9V9 stays or the age group switches to calendar year. I'd be interested to know with Haylock, Solar red, Castro, Gomez, liverpool barnes, and texans, the split between calendar 05 and calendar 06 boys.. anyone care to garner a guess?

Is the calendar year switch a done deal? It's massively stupid in my opinion. In AMERICA, most everything is geared around school year. So the current age groups pretty much bring together kids in the same grade. I was in grade school when the US moved to the current age structure, and it was great for me because I began playing with everyone in my same grade (i.e. my friends from school). Is this change driven by the crazy GERMAN leading US soccer?

The calendar year change isn't a done deal but it is close per many coaches.
The net result will not be a sudden fracture of teams, but a gradual multi-year shift.
All of the current 06 teams will stay together but just call themselves 05's.
There will be a large number of kids "playing up" for a few years until things even out.
There will be leagues that implement new rules for a few years to accommodate the players having to play up.
Overall the landscape change will be very gradual.

Eventually you will have the two-class system in soccer fully implemented.
The folks that can afford to play club soccer and excel will get college scholarships.
The folks that play high school soccer and excel will need to learn to play lacrosse.
True discrimination at it's finest!
