State Cup - Really?

First off I am not a Samba parent or supporting fan (otherwise I would be at their 9am game this morning). I am a fan of really good soccer played on a level playing field. Unfortunately North TX Soccer has again set this up to ruin the experience of State Cup. Samba has a 9am Classic game at Moneygram, then a 12pm game at Richland and then a 3rd game tonight at 6pm. So Samba has 3 games today....what about their competition? LP Owen only has 1 game (12pm vs. Samba) and LP rush only has 1 game (6pm vs. Samba). LP Owen vs. LP Rush is tomorrow. What are the odds Samba will have any real chance? I would say slim, cant expect a team that's played 3 games in a day to be competitive in the 3rd game against a team that has not played all day.

In my opinion this was easily avoidable by NTX, where al teams in the A bracket could have played 2 games today. here is what the schedule should have been (and this would have no impact on fields, times, etc.)

Saturday
9:00 am Samba vs. Azzuri - Classic League Game (not part of state cup) - rescheduled due to rain....Why no D1 games today? hmmmmm
12:00 pm LP Owen vs LP Rush
6:00 pm Samba vs. LP Owen

Sunday:
Samba vs. LP Rush

So let the nay-sayers have their word now.

I totally agree,but did you see the samba vs LP Owen game?That was great,but LP Rush just crushed Samba 10-1

I wonder why Samba is even in the State Cup? There are 9 teams in u13: 7 are D1, FCD Central (who will promote up at end of season) and Samba (average D2 team) are both in D2.

They lost at 9 to Azzurri, 3-5. They lost to LP Owen at 12, 3-4. And they lost to LP Rush at 6, 1-11.

FCD Central also had two games on Saturday. Maybe the State Cup organizers planned to have the two D2 teams over worked that day.

I just think Samba should've thought twice about the State Cup in the first place.

I feel bad for those boys. Samba had a really rough day against 3 tough opponents. None of those teams were a gimme. Playing the hardest team last (debatable maybe) was bad. Hope their players were not hurt.

Solar beat a good Sporting U team 1-0. Wow!! Hats off to both teams. What an intense battle. Typical D1 Classic league slug fest....3 yellow cards, lots of hard fouls, a whole lot of grabbing & 1 PK that Solar's goalie made a beautiful save & then rebound save that kept Solar in the game. Too bad 1 team had to lose. Congrats Solar.

LP Rush vs LP Owen....not much to play for here other than club bragging rights for 1 week then they do the whole thing over again. Can't wait to see if the outcome is different when it's win or go home time. These are the 2 hottest teams since the debacle in the Dallas Cup so this will be street fight.

Solar vs Andromeda....round 3. Ando won the 1st meeting last year 4-0 but Solar has won the last 2 games 1-0 & 1-0. Both of these teams are hard to score on so I'm predicting another slug fest.

Rush plays a little loose with Owen and draws the rematch where they will overwhelm LP Owen. This gives Rush the perfect finals match vs. Solar Red and a probable reversal of last years 0-5 result.

Well it looks like the State Cup final didn't turn out the way anyone predicted. Congrats Solar Red for winning the State Cup...once again. What an intense game. 2-1 but honestly I didn't think it was as close as the score indicated. Solar missed at least 2 gimme goals that would have ended the game shortly after the 2nd half started. Solar's defense was on point as usual & the offense did it's thing too. It took a total team effort to beat a good Rush team. Solar & Rush are very good quality teams & it's a shame that only 1 can represent NTX soccer at regionals which will not doubt be tough competition. I just hope the other regions aren't sending All-Star teams. I guess Solar will find out. If that does happen, I think NTX needs to get a clue & do the same thing. Can you imagine just taking the top 5 D1 teams, Sporting, Rush, Solar, Andro & Owen and forming an All-Star team? No offense to the other D1 teams, I just took the current top 5.
