Classic League D3 Qualifying
How are the brackets determined for the qualifying tournament?
Random placement or is there some sort of ranking involved?

Classic Qualifier Schedules are out; anyone know how the spots are filled if there are 6 open spots and 7 brackets of teams? Will the top 6 teams in the qualifier this weekend get the spots?

Not sure how it works from year to year. One thing interesting was the CCSAI website said roster freeze was April 15, 2017, but the amended rules said roster freeze was May 19, 2017. Not sure why they are different. Maybe a typo.
Anyway, the 01's have 19 total teams with 5 brackets. how does that work to pick 6?
thanks,

Re: Classic League D3 Qualifying
For your 01's pretty certain they will take the 1st place team from each of the 5 brackets and the 6th spot will go to the 2nd place team with the most points.

Schedules are out. The 03B have 7 brackets for 6 spots. Oddly enough they put the two PPL team that went 20 - 0 against each other.

Yes there was one bracket I was happy not to be in another I wish we were. How will 7 brackets earn a spot if only 6 available?

I'm surprised that they placed those 2 teams together. It would be an interesting game to watch.
Good catch with the 7 brackets and only 6 spots. I assume they will place the teams based on points then apply the tie breaker rule if necessary.

Re: Classic League D3 Qualifying
There are some weaker brackets, does not make much sense that they put those two team together. If only the winner goes on, then one of those two will be send back to PPL again. It will be a shame to have that happen to either of them. Texas Spurs 03B just tied a D2 team, beat a D1 and D3 team to win the League Cup Challenge.

Looks like they both have a chance to get in. If their record says anything about those teams, they should get 1st and 2nd place in their bracket and then move on to the 2nd round.

About the challenge tourneys:
For U16, the CCSAI website says:
U16
5 Bracket Winners Qualify for Classic League
5 2nd Place in Bracket Advance to Round 2
Round 2
1 - 5 Team Bracket
Top 2 Teams Qualify for Classic League
Now, there are 6 openings and 5 go to the 5 number 1 teams from round 1, so how can the top 2 teams in round 2 also qualify?

Where do you see that there are only 6 openings? That is typical but what if there is an additional spot open for whatever reason?

A team relegated from D2 is not returning, releasing one of the 4 protected spots

It was a great game that end 2-2 with a late goal from Real GP. Then came the pushing and words exchanged after the final whistle. Will be interesting to see the match ups going into next weekend. Although I would like to see them play again, maybe just not next weekend.

Re: Classic League D3 Qualifying
I don't believe the fact about the relegated D2 team not returning is completely accurate. A bye is being given to another team in that club.

yea... the D2 relegated team to D3 in 01's forfeited several games, so I can see why the spot is available.

I have no complaints, there are a lot of good teams. No matter which bracket you landed in, you were going to run into one of them. I just hope my son's team does not stumble out the gates again this round.

Well my son's team lost their first game again, but still managed to slide into the last wild card spot.
