YSR - Boys 07
Its widely accepted that the Youthsoccerrankings.us site does the best job of ranking teams. Here's your chance to debate the accuracy of the current rankings. I've tried to update any known name changes.
1. FCD Academy (Premier Red)
2. Texans Red (PST)
3. Texans Dallas (Red Leite)
4. Solar McKinney
5. Dallas Rush
6. Elite United
7. Dallas Rebels (I omitted Oak Cliff Real GP since its a duplicate of Rebels)
8. LP Owen
9. ETX Wildcatters
10. Solar Kennington
11. Texans White
12. Solar Volkan
13. FC Legends
14. FCD ETX Premier
15. Ayses Gold
16. Allegiance FC Black
17. Solar Martinez
18. NTX Celtic Shirley
19. FCD Youth (FCD Blue)
20. FCD Blue (FCD Che)
21. FC Fast
22. Club Leon NTX Red
23. DI Stars
24. Fever United
25. Texans S Garcia
26. Garland Tigres Academy
27. Dallas TNT
28. Triumph FC
29. Garland Tigres FTW
30. FC Fort Worth
31. Solar McKinney/Lanier
32. Texas Extreme FC Hurst United
33. LP St John
34. LP Carragher
35. Jacksonville Riot
36. FCD Black (Ekeme)
37. Rayos Martinez
38. LP Heighway
39. FCD ETX -Garcia
40. Dallas Kicks Blue
My take: 3 flaws with scoring system
A. Too much weight on destroying lesser competition.
B. Doesn't give enough credit to teams constantly playing in Platinum vs Gold vs Silver, etc....
C. The review period is too long and doesn't put enough weight on recent results
The following teams to me are either ranked too high or too low by 3+ spots.
3. Texans Dallas- Purely predictive on my part but they've lost 5 of their top 10 outfield players since March. Not sure they have enough depth to overcome this latest defection. I'd put them in 6-10 range.
9. ETX Wildcatters - sorry but #9 is too high, their only games vs top 10 teams ended in losses by at least 2 goals. I'd put them in the 13-15 range
11. Texans White- They typically had a few guests from Dallas in the Spring League, plus they've likely given up some talent to backfill Dallas. I'd put them 16-19 range. Not playing in tourney this weekend is a
16. Allegiance - too low. This team is had a very strong Spring and is holding up in tourney play vs top 10. I'd move them up to 10.
24. Fever United-too low. This team consistently plays tough competition. I'd move them up to 19-20.

Re: YSR - Boys 07
I'm on board with your assessments. A lot going on at Texans, have to see how it all ends up. The new FCD Youth and Blue are question marks for me as well. Of the big 3, Solar had the least amount of drama prepping for select, but also probably the least "club-centric" of the three.
Haven't heard much from LP Owen. Outside of SuperCopa, pretty quiet. I wonder how they fared with the LP team/coach defections of recent.
I got to see Allegiance in a scrimmage the other day and I do like this team. I finally saw the possession soccer I had been told about. They looked pretty good. Had the center back playing further up the field and controlling play more like Rush's center mid. (very similar players btw, less overtly physical though) Speedy left wing was being the speedy left wing. A couple nice shots on a very big goal. Forward was pretty tricky. I like what this team is trying to do. I would bet they loose a few key players to recruitment after a year in D1.

Some of those FCD teams are seeded awfully high

Re: YSR - Boys 07
It's definitely not seeded as in years past. Top 5 are in no way the teams in Intl and the next 6 aren't in Plat A. And there's no way you could argue that Elite isn't in the Top 10 and they are in Plat B. Looks like a snake style seeding.

It's not that Elite team, it's their second team.

Re: YSR - Boys 07
I think it looks like FCD wanted their top 2 teams in Intl.
Snake doesn't make much sense either...
Intl: 1,5,9,20, Mex
Plat A: 2,3,4,14,15,21
Plat B: 7,11,16,17,19,25
Gold: 33,39,35 and 13,27,60,69
Very strange...wonder if the coaches had any input on this at all?

The Elite I was referring to is in Plat B which if seeded sequentially would be seeds 12 through 17. Elite White is in Silver.

Re: YSR - Boys 07
YSR useless at this junction. Meaningless until rosters are locked. It can only serve as a starting point but this fall we will start to see who's who.

Re: YSR - Boys 07
Although I'm a big fan of YSR...vs the other ones out there, this past weekend highlighted some of the biggest flaws with the scoring system in place. Bottom line is there is too much value to running up the score against a significantly weaker opponent. I tracked the scores of the top 40ish teams after the last tournament of note -I think it was roughly the 3rd weekend in June. Scores fluctuate daily +/- from .01 to .03, so my figures aren't exact but still pretty representative of the overall trends. Here's a list of the biggest score increases since June 25th-ish:
FCD ETX-Garcia +.45 hasn't played since May?!?
Solar Volkan +.40 4-0 vs D2/PPL
Dallas Rebels +.35 4-0 in Puma Cup
Meanwhile the following went 4-0 vs tough competition and had much less impact:
Texans Red +.25
Texans Dallas +.2
FCD Academy +.1

Re: YSR - Boys 07
The higher ranked team needs to beat their opponent by 2 more goals than the difference in their YSR ratings in order to noticeably increase their own rating...this is difficult for FCD Academy because they have such a large margin against most of their opponents. Also, the unranked teams like from Mexico are generally ignored until they have enough games to earn their own rating.
In the case of ETX Garcia and other teams that improve without playing, it is often an effect of the ratings of their previous competition improving so that they get credit for having played a better team in the past.
I agree, YSR is far from perfect but still the best system out there currently.
Even QT won't fully settle everything because most of the top 10ish won't play each other, so we will still have a lack of common opponents. Year one of Classic will be the best shake-down of the top 10...and then DA will start up and everything will get thrown out again.
