Backdoor to D1?

Backdoor to D1?
I haven't been around NTX soccer long enough to have much history or insight into the Classic League setup/invitations - but something still feels incomplete (could very well be my own denial).
Is there any scenario where there is some type of league override to the results of week 1? Where we see a team that didn't actual qualify find a path to D1 after all? Sounds ridiculous even as I type this...but after the cluster that was week 1 format - nothing would surprise me...

Re: Backdoor to D1?
The only backdoor I'm aware of would be to get a player release from your club and join a D1 team.

Re: Backdoor to D1?
A D1 team could turn down the invitation to participate in D1, thus creating a scenario where a spot opens up.
Would have to check the bylaws but I'd wager that spot becomes an invite that CCSAI can hand out as they please.
Otherwise, you're looking at trying to get a release from your current coach (unlikely) and if successful (unlikely), finding a coach of a D1 team to give you a roster slot. You'd end up paying Select fees twice I suspect.
Chances of a coach granting a release to another Competitive team are highly unlikely, especially if the player is a starter. And if the player isn't a starter, the chances of joining a D1 team after the fact are likely slim to none.

Re: Backdoor to D1?
if a team ends up not registering for the league, the team with the next highest point total usually gets moved up.
...but no, the league isn't going to look at the results of week 1 and "adjust" them because of subjective dissatisfaction.
if your team should have been in D1 but a hiccup kept you out, you will finish at the top of D2 and get promoted for next year.
