Re: Final Weekend PPL Results
They have made great strides from the end of last year. Aces beat them 2-0 in a Labor Day tournament and they came back and spanked us 4-1 in league play. Granted we're going through our own struggles this season, but that's a pretty big turnaround for Valencia.

Tiapehuala 3 - Aces 2
It is typically not in my character to disparage the opponent, but that Tiapehuala team was by far the nastiest team we have ever faced. The sad part of it all is that they are a very talented team and don't have to resort to the dirty tactics they displayed today. The had three yellows today (two by the same player who was then red-carded), and two other plays that very well could have been yellows that were not called by the ref. To Aces' credit, they did not retaliate, not even once, and were able to stay focused despite all of the distractions.
Their players bad-mouthed ours incessantly throughout the game, and several (including the red-carded player) exhibited poor sportsmanship, bad attitide, and disrespect for the ref.
I also firmly believe that some of their players are too old to be playing in the U14 age group. I don't know what sort of documentation they were able to produce to allow them to pass muster for PPL, but you won't be able to convince me that every one of their players is 13 or just turned 14. This team is everything that is wrong with youth soccer today - dangerous play, bad attitudes, and ignoring age rules. Just sad.

Aces 1 - WF Xpress 0
Strong defense played by both sides; Aces finally broke through with a goal midway through the second half.
