Nice skill but would never fly here. Notice not one kid just smashed into him or charge in recklessly kicking away at his legs. They are all trying to play the ball. Here a kid would just run him down and smash him and take the ball while he picked himself up from the ground and nothing would be called.

I have two older girls that play soccer. My son is the youngest of our 3 kids. So we are just now getting into the boys side of soccer. Is it me, or do the boys spend more time slide tackling or sliding and on the ground than actually playing soccer? If so, when does this stop? It seems unproductive.

boys will always be more physical and do more reckless things not just in soccer but in everything! girls do way less slide tackling and headers then boys and I had 2 older daughters that played one that played select up until HS so I have seen this trend over many many years!springzephyr wrote:omega striker wrote:lol so very very true!go99 wrote:Nice skill but would never fly here. Many if most rec leagues will not allow slide tackles until U9. I don't know about the pre-academy leagues. In U8 and younger it should be whistled as dangerous play. Most kids this age can't do it safely and very few can react to a hard slide tackle well enough to avoid being hurt. It is a developmentasl issue. The bone right above the elbow is still quite fragile at these ages and will snap when the arm is extended to avoid face planting when slid.
