I aways find it interesting when people complain about writing a $40 check to the local all volunteer rec assocaition for the NTSSA registration. I find it strange that they are bothered about giving that to the program that tries to provide low cost soccer to all through the donation of thousands of hours of volunteer work. They do this after committing to pay hundreds or even thousands to a professional coach to teach their 8 or 9 year old!??????
Maybe I don't fully understand.
In this instance, it does not appear that my local association is providing anything here other than a signature. Yes, its commendable that people volunteer to make rec soccer work in our neighborhoods. That is unchallenged. Kudos to those folks. But for those of us not playing rec soccer....my name is Paul, and that is between y'all. The soccer tourney goes on with or without KSA or whomever happens to be my local association. This is a tax on Academy kids (who aren't in the rec program) so that the rec program is more affordable. You are paying a $1000 already, what is another $40?
Thats basically the rationale for raising federal taxes ad infinitum.

I am by no means a cheerleader for NTX but you do get some value here. What you are getting with the NTX registration is; supplemental injury insurance, certified USSF referees, background checks on all coaches, admin ansd refs,A&D hearing structure. Yes the major part of the fee goes to the local association as a way for NTX to help them with their funding. You are the customer, if you do not like it play in non-NTSSA sanctioned leagues and tournaments.
Oh BTW federal taxes have been going down since Reagan. It is actually more like the rationale that adds the regressive little taxes that are added to your water, electric, cable, telephone, gas, and almost every other bill in this low tax state

still on that kick huh? why don't you move to NYC, where you can pay big non negotiable city and state taxes upfront and taxes on those things too that you mention, you might be happier there.....

Re: 04 Boys
laugh.
We all reveal our bias in our analogies, eh? I had a long winded reply involving the increases in progressiveness (not rates) of our federal income tax system in the past 40 years, some quotes from current political leaders, and an obligatory Tocqueville and/or tyranny of the majority reference....but I'll digress instead. Apologies, politics and American culture are both the complete stains.
and yeah, with this tourney allowing USClub sanctioning, non-NTSSA is definitely the way to go, particularly if you're already SDLing. Eventually we'll bite that bullet, but not paying $40 more per head just for this single event.
best of luck all.

Good stuff. I was almost going to bite and reply regarding my impending deportation to NYC. After getting a good chuckle from your post I will pass on a second round of politics. Good luck this weekend.
