Elite Academy League - Fall registration is now OPEN
Registration for the Fall season is now open at - www.glasasoccer.org/eal
Elite Academy League (EAL) is an NTSSA-sanctioned academy league for U7-U10 boys and girls teams that plays on Sunday afternoons in Lewisville at Railroad Park and Lake Park. EAL is run by the Greater Lewisville Area Soccer Association (GLASA), which is an NTSSA home association. Teams that play in the EAL are eligible for all NTSSA-sanctioned tournaments from August 2011 through July 2012.
EAL will play from August 28th - November 6th (except for Labor Day weekend). Teams will be scheduled to play 10 games and are guaranteed to play at least 8 games.
Full-sized goals are used for all age groups. U7 and U8's play 8v8 on fields 80 yards x 50 yards, U9's play 9v9 on 90x55, U10's play 11v11 on full-sized fields.
For all age groups, games will be officiated by 3-person referee crews. We pays EAL referees the same amount that referees are paid for U12 classic league games, so we are able to get adult referees to work EAL games.
More information and online registration is available at - www.glasasoccer.org/eal

Re: Elite Academy League - Fall registration is now OPEN
Yesterday, NTSSA passed a by-law change to allow U7 and U8 academy players to register with NTSSA home associations (like U9 and U10 players do). This will allow NTSSA-sanctioned academy leagues and tournaments to have playing divisions for U7 and U8 academy teams.

Heard that this league costs a fraction of what SDL charges? Parents are starting to talk at practice. Hopefully, things will change, the sooner the better!coachdom wrote:Registration for the Fall season is now open at - www.glasasoccer.org/eal

That's not accurate at all. If you add the Home Assoc. fee that every parent pays it is actually more expensivejavascript:emoticonp('')

The NTSSA Academy Player Registration is required for all NTSSA-sanctioned leagues and tournaments. If a u7-10 player is going to play in a NTSSA-sanctioned tournament between now and July 2012, they will need to get that form. The following leagues require the NTSSA Academy Release Form: EAL, CAL, PAL, DIAL, UAL

That looks just like an email I just saw from SDL challenging the perception that their fees are too high, which they are. In the spirit of full disclosure, a few other things to consider when choosing:
1. Not mentioned is number of refs. SDL provides only one. Sometimes, they can even see. Other leagues are offering three, at least one of which has to have sight in both eyes (so I have been told).
2. Not clarified is that registration with your home association is done only once per year, so cut that in half when calculatint total year's costs. Also, these boys are U9. Most top teams will be competing in at least a couple of tournaments this year. This registration will HAVE TO BE DONE ANYWAY in order to participate in any NTX sanctioned event. You may have already done this.
3. SDL plays 8 games; others are offering 10. You do the math.
4. Finally, the field quality at Blue Sky has suffered tremendously over the last 2 years. Quality is going to start to matter under "deregulation." Does anyone remember what these fields looked like 5 years ago? BIG difference.
The bottom line is that leagues are going to have to start offering more bang for the buck in order to compete. In the end, teams will go where the competition is, and the competition will go where the value is.

Re: Elite Academy League - Fall registration is now OPEN
Your right North Texas makes all youth teams pay their EXTRA HOME ASSOC. FEE to play in their leagues and more importantly in their CLOSED tourns. It's a monopoly! All the other guys out there have OPEN tourns where all teams can play. NTexas does not give you a choice. Quality - that is why these other leagues started - SDL, Prime time, PSA, the AYSES league to give us a choice.

If you're already on a rec team, does that count as home registration?

Same email....
SDL provides two refs and both have to at least see from the midfield line like the others to call offsides.
One even has to hear the lewd comments from parents and coaches so they know who to red card.
Yes you can split the cost of NTSSA fees but still higher than what Primetime charges for their league and they do not require NTSSA fees. Hence SDL did not include Primetime in their list of league fees.

Some were not as fortunate to have played all 8 games in the past. Due to many reasons (albeit not all under SDL's control) rescheduling has been difficult historically. Other things to consider are parking and handicap accessibility.
