Looks like the schedule is out now too. I imagine there may be some adjustments but it is up in it's 1st draft. Gall should have some fun in the 1st round.
Good luck to all.
Good luck to all.

DT Gall will be on cruise control until the semis...The brackets are down at this moment. From what I saw when they were up. I would say the Semi's should go something like this.
DT Gall vs FCD Premier or Houstonians
SR VS DTS
Anyway they want to carve it the Semi's come out that way. From the schedule they had out. It seemed that DT Gall, FCD Premeir, SR, and DTS had 2 hard/challenging games and then one semi cake walk game on their schedules.

LOL. I always thought the holiday tournaments were a bit more of a cr@pshoot than others given that many teams will have multiple players out of town, etc.

Re: Dallas Texans Fall Festival U11 Applied Team List
Jimmy Johnson, old Dallas Cowboys coach, always said, "It's about the match-ups".
Where ever there is a 1x1 mis-match, the better player wins. It's a matter of 11 mini battles on the pitch.
Find the weaknesses and exploit them.
If the coaches have been closely observant they'll have a decent idea of their opponents weak spots. Where a mismatch can be created by moving players to new positions. Conversely, the coaches know their own weak links and must ensure to mitigate. The coaches must be pulling out their hair trying to determine creative solutions Gall's superboys.
The "passion" level is huge. Teams have to elevate their fervor and maintain it. They can't blow their adrenalin in the first 15 minutes and suffer in agony the last 3/4s of the match. Pace is critical, too. How many times did teams go up early on Gall only to get blown away later in the match?
My favorite Jimmy Johnson, quote…
- "When you go up against a big gorilla, you don't hit him lightly. You hit him with everything you got!"
The real question is; does Gall really have any weak spots? None that we are aware about.

Somewhat susceptible to quick counterattacks. You can't kick and chase, but if you move the ball down quickly you sometimes have a chance. They are so good at getting the ball back that they sometimes just assume that's what will happen -- if you can keep it and have some players hoofing it down the field, you can get numbers every once in awhile.
IMHO, physical play also throws them off their game a bit. Not sliding all over -- they just jump over you and keep going. I mean shoulder-to-shoulder, don't give an inch, knock them off the ball play. Of course, if you play the pressing game you better have some speed because there are several boys on that team that can flat out fly.
Of course, I defer to PG-Boy. If he says the above is bunk, I agree!

Re: Dallas Texans Fall Festival U11 Applied Team List
Are you looking for scouting reports? I save my top secret scouting reports for the bb and the real coach. (wink-wink)
Translating what we adults see and think is best to the 10 & 11 year olds is not always correct. I'll leave the coaching to the real coaches.
In the end, though, the boys have to go out on the field to use their own personal experience, creativity and skill. This is the fun part, watching the boys grow up before our eyes. Observing as they find their own solutions to problems. We have to just guide and teach because we can't "do" it for them. Nor should we try to coach in real-time during games. Leave it to the pros.
The semis and final will be exciting. Better practice PKs next week. You never know.

Re: Dallas Texans Fall Festival U11 Applied Team List
I'm surprised there are three group games on Sunday morning.
If any of these teams playing Sunday at 8am qualify for the semifinal, they'll have the potential of THREE tough matches on Sunday. They'll be exhausted if they make the Final.
Any semifinalist without an 8am Sunday match will have a huge advantage. i.e. more sleep, more rest, a longer duration between their previous game, etc.

Anoranza is no longer on the schedule.
There's a replacement team called: ATLAS AGUILA REAL, MEXICO ATLAS AGUILA REAL 2001 (TXS)
Very interesting. Anyone know anything about this squad?

Re: Dallas Texans Fall Festival U11 Applied Team List
Not to mention that if any of those 6 teams that play at 8:00am on Sunday happens to make the finals, they will have played at Richland at 8:00am, Farmers Branch at 11:00am for the semi's, and Ross Stewart for the finals at 2:00. Less than 2 hours between games with travel time and the boys have to show up 30 mins to an hour early before the game for warm-ups. That will be tough.PG-Boy wrote:I'm surprised there are three group games on Sunday morning.

Dont know that much about them. Only thing is that they beat the Houstonians last year in their version of our SDL 2-0. So I am going to assume they are good. Any out of town team coming to play in this tournament should be taken seriously.

Re: Dallas Texans Fall Festival U11 Applied Team List
PREDICTION:
BRACKET A: DT GALL – The South Texas contingent will be appetizers for the main course. Galls superboys will prepare spicy Hors D'oeuvres. Not a lot commentary here, it is what it is.
BRACKET B: FCD PREMIER – It’s a toss-up between FCD Premier and DTS. Someone has to be picked, so I’ll go with FCD Premier. Mark your calendar for Saturday, 9:30am, Cox #3 for a ferocious group match. The winner avoids Gall in the semifinal. The loser is either eliminated from the semi’s or has to face Gall.
BRACKET C: SOLAR CHELSEA RED – The Houstonians and FWFC will give Solar tough match-ups. But it’s about the fundamentals, earning points. Solar is too smart and too skillful to lose the group. They are the summit. Trying to knock them down will not be simple. Everyone will be busy knocking heads with each other trying to get to the top of the hill.
WILDCARD: This one can’t be predicted with any real certainty. It depends on multiple variables. Primarily how many points you can POUR on the scoreboard. Shut-outs help immensely, too. But its about goals, lots of goals in the back of the net. Even if a team is ahead and destined to win, it’s not enough to earn the coveted last semi-final slot. A team must be assertive and merciless to advance.
After head-to-head, the next tie breaker IS goal differential. So you Wild Card contenders, pour it on. Keep scoring even after the game has already been decided. Mercy is for rec leagues.
These rules are posted on the website
a. Head to Head game results - winner will advance.
b. Goal differential - team with highest goal differential against opponents will advance
(goals scored minus goals against).
c. Fewest goals allowed - team with fewest goals allowed will advance.
d. Most number of "shut-outs" - team with most "shut-outs" will advance.
e. Penalty kicks.
Highest probability of Wild Card from each group;
A = I don’t know anything about Austin Texans or Texans 01 (STX). Likely the three teams after Gall will counter act any point acceleration. For STX teams to travel & test their mettle against NTX squads, they have to have high confidence. To advance to semi, one of these teams has to be MUCH superior to the other two remaining foes.
B = DTS. This group has four good teams. Accumulating a huge goal differential for the second place team will not be easy. But we’ve all witnessed DTS go on a tear.
C = Houstonians and FWFC will battle it out for second place. They’ll have to get their goal differential against DT Red. Although I doubt DTR will easily give up their own aspirations.
If any team can pour home goals with panache, its DTS. My wild a$* guess for the wild card is DTS.
The reward for any wild card advancing? A turn at getting obliterated by DT Gall.
Gall superboys demolish DTS in semi-final. DTS will be sushi with a side of wasabi.
Oglesby and Pino’s boys will have an epic rematch of the Memorial Day final that Solar won. Epic it will be. PKs will decide the match after a double overtime 2-2 match. The team with the most confident goalkeeper wins. FCD in a game for the ages.
Final; Galls superboys find a team matching them in fitness and savvy.
Their normal assertiveness is tempered by the fact they haven’t faced FCD Premier in almost a year. They hold back instead of charging forward because FCD isn’t awed. FCD can and will sting.
Pino and Gall will pretend to ignore each other, but they’ll gaze from the corner of their eyes at each other. Two prize fighters going mano-a-mano. Their pupils battling it out on the pitch. Their benches with players that could start on any D1 team, they’ll select the proper quills at the right moments.
But in the end, Texans muscle will outshine their creative opponents by smashing home a blistering 30 yard shot that grazes the underside of the crossbar. Gall, champions. ☺

But in the end, Texans muscle will outshine their creative opponents by smashing home a blistering 30 yard shot that grazes the underside of the crossbar. Gall, champions. ☺

Highest probability of Wild Card from each group;

I very much enjoyed the review or prognostication. I believe you are not giving Craft their due in the third group. They played Solar red close, giving up an own goal and a ball that gently rolled between the GK legs. They lost to FWFC, as I understand it, on a contested handball while not getting a similar call moments prior. DTS should advance on goal differential as the wildcard. I believe Premier will have an answer for their cannon. The teams from Austin and surrounding areas are generally not as good as NTX at this stage. Not sure what the Houston Texans (texans01) are bringing, but they are generally pretty weak. Word on the street is that a Gall will be coaching, just not the usual one.

Well my prediction will go a little something like this.
Bracket A: DT Gall easily. like PG-Boy said no commentary on this one needed.
Bracket B: A very strong group. Fcd Premier vs DTS game will be a great battle between two of NTX top teams. I will go with DTS on this one 2-1. This group has some interesting match ups in it. I know that the team from houston actually beat the Houstonians 2-0 last year...This to me would can be considered the bracket of death. The team from Kansas from their Gotsoccer account seems like they might be a force.
Bracket C: another strong group i would add. I believe that the matchup between Solar Red and Houstonians will make it out of this bracket. They possible could have the wildcard come from here as well. If Solar Red can force their possession style against the Houstonians physical and very agressive nature. They should win. Houstonians can play. they are not all muscle with no skill. They do have some skill to go along with the muscle.
Wildcard: Another hard one to decided but i would go with FCD Premier simply on the fact that they defend well and can score the necessary goals to get in.
Semis:
DT Gall vs FCD Premier 3-2
SR or (Houstonians) vs DTS 1-2
Yes you are reading it correctly. A Texans final.
DT Gall vs DTS
I have different ending than PG-Boy. I have DTS winning 3-2 in a thiller of a match that goes down to the wire in the 2nd overtime. These two teams know each other very well. That is why I believe that an unknown boy on DTS team will score the go ahead goal.

Re: Dallas Texans Fall Festival U11 Applied Team List
Atlas beat the Houstonians 01 2nd team (B team), 8v8, in league play. The Houstonians 01 first/"A" team played up a year in the 00 group, also 8v8. The 2 teams are (mostly) combined for 11v11. In the Houston Cup, 11v11, last weekend Houstonians won 4-2 over Atlas (Atlas' 2 goals were PKs). Nobody from Houston (in their own age group) beats HFC 01, the Houston Texans are pretty weak.
Didn't Houstonians win 2-0 last game against DTS? My prediction, Houstonians and Gall in the finals again. To PKs this time, heard HFC got some new defenders, Houstonians win.
