Agree that lack of semis was confusing, but not as much as having U7 and U8 teams playing 7 v 7 on large-regulation 9 v 9 field at Railroad.

THAT really stunk. Was also dissapointed to discover that Solar Farley played 8v8 in all their games; and despite having permission to play 8v8 from Coach Dom was only able to convince the refs to let us add a player at the start of the 2nd half of the last game...when we were at Lake Park.

We had one player who was cleared to play goalie only with a knee brace and one of our other players had a trip cancelled late Thursday that allowed him to play or we would have only had 7 players. The games should have all been played at Lake Park 7V7. I still don't understand the 8V8. The next step is 9V9 from 7V7 and then 11V11. Oh well, I guess some like it.

A poll was taken prior to tourney about who wished to play 7 v 7 and who wished to play 8 v 8. The majority voted 7 v 7, but SR, it was agreed, because their roster was a bit shorter than the others, did not have to abide by any 8 v 8 decision. Having said that, absolutely NO ONE officiating this tournament knew that, and all rules online and otherwise were written 7 v 7. Oddly, the ref at Railroad wouldn't take MY word for it!

I approached Coach Dom after our first game, in the scoring tent at RR, and told him of the confusion. He basically reiterated to me what I already had been told, that it was up to the coaches. I advised him he might want to let the refs know. Hmmmm. It is definitely unfortunate that all U8 teams were not made aware of this, coaches and manager. I never did hear the final word on this, nor did I see an email relating to it, PRIOR to the tournament beginning.

However, overall, IMO a well-run gig. Most will never be 100% happy with any event, but I think the kids had fun.

Our kids (Leite United 05) really enjoyed the tournament. However, that one year difference in playing up against 04's is really evident on a big field where speed comes into play. I think we would have fared much better on the regulation 7x7 fields. What a difference there was between these fields and the SDL fields. Regardless, it was a great learning experience and we are very proud of the effort they put forth (especially only having two subs all tournament). BTW, Congrats Leite United 04 on the win. I heard it was a great championship game!!!

Congrats. Good showing for North Texas. Any good competition besides Texans? Also, how was the wind and weather up there?

Hey, that's why we in NTX play in OK. To make sure they remember their place at the end of the day! lol!

The U9 Gold bracket was 4 teams ('03 OK team, TFC Lopez 03 team, DSC 04, Texans Gall '03). So this would indicate that at least most in OK knew their place was in the Silver bracket. In Gold group play it pretty much went: Gall dominated everybody, everybody dominated OK team, Lopez and DSC had a good match. DSC did themselves proud in final, but tough against older skilled organized boys.

It was like +/- 25 mph winds. But at least not overly cold.

I like to take the lurking show on the road from time to time.

I figured the wind would have been as bad or worse than here.

Fall Tournaments (Adidas & Primetime) - Page 2 Empty Schedules are posted for Primetime Tournament

Post by 4theluvofthegame 11/16/2011, 12:33 am

Should be a great tournament with a stacked Gold division and very solid Silver division too. Will be back later in the week with predictions.

Pool A
- Dynamo
- Odyssey
- FC Dallas South
- Liverpool Reina

Pool B
- Solar Red
- Solar Chelsea Farley
- Texas Suns Soccer Club
- Bandits

Not sure why teams are playing two games in the afternoon on Saturday and then the dreaded 3 games in one day for those teams that qualify for the playoffs. Why does Primetime do that????

Saturday afternoons match between Dynamo and Odyssey should be pretty fun to watch!

Anyone know anything about Texas Suns Soccer Club? I google it and see a club that practices in Farmers Branch and Rowlete.

Its Wizards 04 not FCD--South.

You will be quite surprise with Wizards 04. We have played against them and they are a good bunch of kids. Very fast! This will be a true test for them to okay against the tip teams.

No offense to wizards, but these are the big boys in this tournament, not primetime league team. You don't have a chance against odyssey and dynamo.

Fall Tournaments (Adidas & Primetime) - Page 2 Empty Comment on Primetime

Post by acemccloud75 11/20/2011, 10:25 am

I usually do not comment on teams and I wont but the sponsoring organization I will. Primetime claims to be a premier provider of leagues and tournaments. I over the last year have sorely been disappointed with the quality of refereeing provided and the field conditions which they subject the kids to playing on. So from my perspective it about the money and not the quality. The clubs really should hold primetime to a higher standing or are they all about the money too.

Here are my observations from the Primetime tournament this weekend - those that also played or went out and watched let me know other observations as well.

1. Dynamo was the best team - congratulations! The guest players added value as well,
2. Odyssey didnt show up well at all - not sure if it was the small fields or lack of grass, but the team struggled
3. The refs, linesman, field conditions, field size were all very very poor. It made the Adidas Cup the weekend before look like the Dallas Cup and this a rec tournaemnt
4. Wizards had an amazing player, may have been the best in the tournament
5. The gold division was a very good group of teams and Primetime did well with their split between Gold and Silver
6. Solar Red ran out of gas - no subs in the semis and finals cost them the championship
7. Texas Suns despite having half their team as guest players couldn't put it all together, but they did make the semis
8. I was wrong on my prediction - Well done Dynamo

1. I didn't notice Dynamo with any guest players. They had players that played with them in SDL.
2. Didn't see any of their games, can't comment
3. the refs did struggle and the fields were very poor
4. Wizards had a very good player
5. Agree
6. Understatement on running out of gas. Don't know that cost them the championship is an accurate description, but certainly didn't help the cause. I think saying cost the Championship takes credit away from DSC their club and that's not right. They are still the top team in my book. SR did only have 9 players to begin the tourney. Lost 1 player 7 minutes into the Sunday morning pool game to basically not return for the day. Lost another player after the pool game for the semi's and finals. Finals had another playing with sick.
7. Didn't know anything about the club to comment on guest or not. They looked very similar to Centurions and maybe some Chivas players.
8. Not just on Dynamo, but perhaps change prediction to predictions. This comment in particular doesn't look so good now "No offense to wizards, but these are the big boys in this tournament, not primetime league team. You don't have a chance against odyssey and dynamo." lol!

Everyone enjoy the Winter break. Looking forward to some time off and then the Spring season.

Agree on the wizards prediction soccer27 was very astute. Although they looked outmatched against Dynamo (most teams do Smile ) they showed very well against Odyssey and Solar Red.

YB - unless my eyes were mistaken me, wasnt that a certain Texans North Coaches kid on your team this weekend (I will not say # or name as that gets me in trouble Smile ) ? I guess that is the definition of a guest player. My definition is a kid that plays on another team for a tournament that is not his primary team (I'm assuming his primary team is still his fathers team). You guys played very very well and have some unbelievable players - and what other 04 team has three coaches (even if two of the coaches had kids playing on the team) on their sideline - talk about impressive.

Sorry, I was only referring to games we played or I saw. He played enough that I didn't consider him a guest player.

4LUV you must reveal yourself, you are the talk of our team. Yellowboots wasn't kidding, we gave you a "Shout Out" a couple of times this weekend, all in good fun. Very Happy , As my good friend used to tell me, SII.

Soccer27 should start his own weekly rankings.....
