Re: Coaching
the barely beat the #8 ranked FCD team 1-0,and the game against Texans south well they missed way too many golden chances and controlled the game but because of their misses it coast them the game not barcelona being better, and didnt see the solar red game but was told the coach was not too happy this coach i believe coached chivas 99 and then merged into solar blue where he coached them right into D2, so that being said its still sometimes about talentbarcelona03b wrote:A coach that just came back to the Dallas area is named Hector Jaquez. He used to coach in OCSA and took his team to the tournament of champions and won it all. Team name was Oak Cliff Angels 99B. He took Oak Cliff United 97s from D3 to D2 within 1 season. Issues with parent dedication broke the 97 boys team apart. At the same time he was coaching OC Angels 02B and 03 boys. They were all in first place in OCSA but were broken up by club teams as they pulled his players. His 99s merged with another team and were playing D1 classic until there were issues between coaches. He moved on and is currently coaching Barcelona 99B in Division 1 classic league. He has begun a smaller bunch of barcelona players in OCSA but is looking to go club. This weekend Barcelona 99B destroyed FC Dallas, Texans South (Hernandez) and Solar (Passos) in the memorial day cup. When he brought the Barcelona 03 boys together they were a bunch of different kids that came together to form one team. In the beginning of the season they were so out of tune but now they are in synch and are playing beautiful soccer. They are passing the ball lovely and there conditioning is out of this world. Anyone should consider him as a coach in my opinion. His player development is awesome and he connects with all of his players. He seems to know how to point out the players weak area and focus on it to correct it. I am honored to have him coach my son.

Re: Coaching
you must be talking about ernest. He took over solar blue not hector. hector never went to a club. he merged with barcelona. he is currently helping coach barcelona 99 boys in division 1 classic. he has been with them for 2 years now.... so far so good....

Re: Coaching
The 99 OC Angels was a very good team. Saw them play in the final in the TOC. I believe they beat NFWSA 6-0. Not sure the team was a random draw of kids like our rec association.
We did very well in the tourney and lost to NFWSA 1-0 due to a poor coaching decision by me in the last few minutes of the game. Wanted to play in the Final, but wouldn't have beat OC Angels anyway. That was an all-star team. Still watching some of the OC Angels play today.

Re: Coaching
The OC Angels wasn't a selected team. half of the kids played together since they were u-6. Wish the kids would've stayed together because they would've had an awesome competitive team. Oh well, the kids that went to barcelona 99 boys were his core players from OC Angels minus Leija which ended up going to Solar Red (Passos). Now they are doing really well. All of the kids trained by Hector are doing very well. Wish them the best.

Re: Coaching
03b, We don't call out individual players on the web site, good or bad. Not a good idea. Yes, some really good 99 players came from that rec team (and other rec teams that didn't make the final). The 99s are a great class of kids!!

Re: Coaching
A lot of this is biased. "he is a jerk", "Relax, Use your skills!".
However, finding a coach that says, use your skills, would be very unique. Even more unique is if he believes it under the pressure of a game AND pressure from PARENTS WHO ALL CARE ABOUT IS WINNING.
Coaches that do not win do not have a job because PARENTS FIRE THEM.
The question becomes, do you have the ability to find a coach like this and stay with him. All the other stuff, he is a jerk, etc. is noise. It is very easy to tell if you like a coach, watch his teams play in very tough games (0-0 or loosing situations will bring out the real coach, and real parents).
I have to tell you that I do not recognize but one name on this list and that is probably a bad thing because when I have to drive early to drop off one of my four kids play (one graduated) I am always looking for a game to pass the time. And as a neutral in all these games it should be easy to please my desire to watch something pleasing to the eye, but it is usually ugly. I have to tell you that I believe that the number of good coaches in select can be counted on one hand so I would make it a point to learn a coach's name if I ran into something nice to watch.
Let me put it another way. At 9 and 10 years old, you will see a lot of kids that are fun to watch. 90% of those kids will not be fun to watch by 13. At 7-10 years old coaches leave kids pretty much alone, but at 11-13 they get their PROFESSIONAL coaching into them.
The kids that survive have a parent or older brother coaching their brain against what the coach is saying. That parent stays with the coach a long time because most coaches do not put up with that. What I am saying is that one way or another, the parents are the most important thing.

I am pretty sure OCU 97 Boys went from D3 to Plano not the other way around
Since my son is a 97 and we played them I am pretty sure I am right
In fact, they were pretty skilled but multiple games they played with 10 or even 9 as that is all they had show up

Re: Coaching
If I remember correctly they qualified as #43 for CLD1 and ended up in D3 at the end of the 1st season because of playing with only 9 or 10 boys. They were skilled und were the second lowest team to qualify for D1 at that time.mspan02 wrote:barcelona03b wrote:A coach that just came back to the Dallas area is named Hector Jaquez. Re: Coaching
Usually what happens when you have parents feel it is too inconvenient to put in the time to allow their kids to continue the devlopment of the game.
