East Texas Soccer

Curious about everyone's thoughts on East Texas soccer success this year. Longview and Tyler Lee both advance and meet each other in the next round. Particularly impressive is the win by Lee, defeating #3 Nationally ranked (according to ESPN RISE) Richardson Berkner 3-2.

This opens another topic. It was rumored both Richardson teams had players missing bc of Dallas Cup. I dont know if its true. I will say that last year Jesuit Dallas played Dallas Cup and state championships.
Whats in East texas is players that stay together and play all year together. No breaking up of talent. So those boys play for each other. The talent is in east texas.

IE Dempsey, Torres, Hernandez

Mt Pleasant is REALLY good this year. They dominated McKinney Boyd earlier in the season.

question: aren't the Orozco brothers that play for Tigres from East TX also?

Unless their players were playing for a non USSF DA team, I doubt they were missing players to Dallas Cup. The DA does not allow players to play in high school.
Richardson Berkner was over rated. They were clearly NOT the third best team in the country.

Oh, please don't burst my bubble so quickly. Maybe they were overrated but they were 19-1 or 19-2 so they were doing something right. Lee won again tonight and moves on to the Region II tournament where they last played 10 years ago. Hopefully, their regional quarterfinal victory tonight is a good sign. They've only advanced to the quarterfinals 8 times in the last 23 years, 4 (including this year) of those were victories, and 2 resulted in State Championship appearances. GO RED RAIDERS!

It was a dog fight. Congrats Tyler lee and we hope you bring all the glory back to East Texas. Its been a long time since you guys have had that sharp shooter, ie. Cam, Antuniz....Now you have three i think!!! GOOD LUCK
