Saturday (10/31)
Inter-Milan 2-1 CDI White; GOTW, both are playing hard, good soccer, IM wins on a PK from a flop
FCD White 1-3 FCD Red; White is trying, but Red has more talent
TX Stampede 1-3 TFC Blue; TXS is going to have to show me they want it - they haven't
Solar Gold 2-1 Liverpool; Gold is one team haven't seen, Could be a very close game
DFW Tornados Blue 3-0 Genesis Elite; DFW will attack, Genesis will relent
Sunday (11/1)
TFC Blue 1-2 FCD Red; Similar, but like what I've seen from FCD Red a little better
DFW Tornados Blue 2-2 Solar Gold; Having trouble deciding which style will win out

SAT 10/31
Inter 1 - CDI 0
Inter's long ball will get one by CDI
FCDW 0 - FCDR 2
Red has played good teams and done well, White shouldn't be a problem
TXS 2 - TFC 1
Swindler, jumping off the band wagon so fast? TXS gets well and beats a good team in TFC
Solar 2 - LP 1
Solar can play possession soccer, they'll keep the ball long enough to win
TOR 2 - Gen E 0
Gained much confidence by beating CDI... TOR gets another win
SUN 11/1
TFC 1 - FCDR 2
Red is butter... they're on a roll!
TOR 2 - Solar 2
TOR's twin attack will create size problems for Solar
Inter 3 - Gen E 0
Inter too fast and strong for Gen E
Inter 1 - CDI 0

Re: 96 PPL1 Week of 10/31 Predictions/Scores
10/31:
Inter-3 CDI-2 Inter can use the long ball but will also try and get some through possesion.
FCD White-0 FCD Red-3 Seeing both teams play red wil dominate the game and go on to win. White has one fst kid up top and a pretty good keeper. thats about it though.
TXS-2 TFC-3 (GOTW) TFC is a strong aggressive team and wants their chance to prove it in D3. Looks like TXS thought it would be an easy trip in plano. They thought wrong.
Solar-1 Liverpool-0 Solar can posses the ball but so far have chose not to. Havnt seen Liv but heard they have a difffuclty in attack...
DFW Tornadoes-3 Gen-0 No comment (havnt seen either team)
11/1:
FCD Red-1 TFC-2 Red on a roll? have you seen any of the refs they had? Watched them twice and BOTH times the ref has called everything for them and just them. I think TFC can take them down with a fair ref
DFW Tornadoes-3 Solar-3 Cant see anything but a shoot out in this one.
Inter-5 Gen-0 Genisses will be thrashed by Inter.
COMMENTS: Genisses and FCD white will get relegated. Solar will pull out an amazing run in the 2nd half of the season.

Was there ever an announcement that there would be a relegation mid-season? I didn't expect there to be one. I would assume that they're going to do another QT going into next year - with maybe a couple of byes for previous year thrown in.

Re: 96 PPL1 Week of 10/31 Predictions/Scores
Regardless of our opinions on the refs, Red beat a decent Solar team and tied a good CDI team... what quality team has TFC beaten or tied? This is soccer, human error is to be expected. I acknowledge that there are fouls called at critical times that sway the game, but it evens out thru the course of the yr. You can easily say "if little Timmy could've buried that 1v1 3 games ago, we would've gotten 1st place. But that's the beauty of competitive sports, things are tight and you have to roll with the punches. The drama is great!
I agree with the TXS opinion... they may have expected a cake walk. But to their defense, they've had 2-3 starters missing every game. Let's face it, every team in Plano is not what you would consider "deep". Take 2-3 starter off of any Plano team and they'll struggle. If TXS can keep their head above water this Fall, they'll be a team to watch down the Spring stretch. Them and Solar!!

Re: 96 PPL1 Week of 10/31 Predictions/Scores
Swindler- Nothing has been announced about relegation/promotion but it would be easier to have top 2 from PPL2 and bottom 2 from PPL1 pretty much switch. Metro and coppell are doing good at the moment and they could go on to win PPL2 BUT putting them back into a qualifying tourny could be difficult. At this age there will be more injuries and vacations during the summer. Some of their players could be missing. Same could be said for a top team in PPL1. If there missing players then it could be hard for them to stay in PPL1.
Soccermom- True but how many quality team have they had to face? One? and they pulled out a result. TFC have what it takes to take down FCD Red.
COMMENTS: It will be a close race for 1st all season long but the bottom 2 or maybe 3 will keep on sinking. It will be an intresting season in the spring.

Fields playing K,L,M,O,P,R starting at 1pm. 12:30 moves to 1pm. All other fields cancelled. This means if i am correct tht CDI vs Inter has been cancelled aswell as FCD White vs Red and DFW vs Genisses. Looks like Solar v Liverpool and TFC v TXS are the only teams playing on halloween. |

Solar-1 Liverpool-1
Both teams fought hard... Literally. Yellows, freekicks elbows... very physical. And boring in the first half.. Solar sprang to life in the second half, but only after one of their main defenders got a red card. Who knew that hitting a kid was a straight red card? Overall though, this was a very exciting game in the second half

Re: 96 PPL1 Week of 10/31 Predictions/Scores
I'm not so sure that relegation/promotion between seasons makes sense for U15. I already watched my older son go through Plano in his later teens, and once kids enter that U15 age, the commitment level to soccer drops considerably. I doubt there will be more than about a dozen teams returning to Plano next year. With kids entering high school, many that never made it to the Classic ranks will drop competitive soccer and pursue other sports. Few teams will hold together intact. Some will disband. Some will merge. Some will hold together and still try to advance to Classic. But some will just stay in Plano because they want a competitive place to play soccer. You see a wide range of teams at U15-U17 in Plano. A few quality teams, but most of them are just a bunch of kids who played youth soccer for years and want to be on a team to play. If they really wanted to get to Classic, they'd join a team already in Classic, because time is running out. Arlington seems to be a bit better for the older age groups. More teams. More competitiveness, it seems.Every_NonAmericans_Dream wrote:Swindler- Nothing has been announced about relegation/promotion but it would be easier to have top 2 from PPL2 and bottom 2 from PPL1 pretty much switch. Anyway, promoting and relegating teams that are in such flux doesn't make sense to me. In Classic it's another story, as the commitment level is higher. But not in Plano. Quite frankly, I doubt the issue will even come up. There's apt to be few enough teams that one division will be enough.

All 96 PPL1 games for Sunday are cancelled. I guess we're going to start looking to the spring for completing the first half of the season. Through this weekend (the original 'end' of the season) we have five teams that will have only played four games.

Re: 96 PPL1 Week of 10/31 Predictions/Scores
E-NAD,
You guys have killed my weekly predictions twice now; can't use Solar as my double-play anymore!
Swindler,
Back on the wagon or do you need more?
As for relegation... it's too unstable to pull that off at mid-season, regardless of age group or league. Even if the bottom 2 are horrible, they played their way into D1, and that's where they should stay the entire yr. Look at CL D3... Boca is getting killed every week. Don't think CL would make a move mid-season. They'll just hope Boca chooses not to come back in the Spring.

Man, that was a game. Two very good teams, playing very physical soccer. Both sides had a few chances where they could have taken all 3 points but it was not to be. Fun and fast would be my call. See you in the Spring.

Re: 96 PPL1 Week of 10/31 Predictions/Scores
I always need more! For the record I was never really "off" the bandwagon. But whatever the reason; new players, injuries, players in new spots, etc, the team was playing flat. In particular, in the prior two games the team was too passive, letting the game come to them. We were getting 25% of the 50/50 balls. Just like any team out there, if they don't play confident and try to control the game, the other team will. You could say I was "calling them out". Hopefully, they took a step in the right direction and will continue their progress.soccermom040 wrote:Swindler,
