96 CL 2012-13 D2 pecking order

After leading 3-1 at one point, Tejanos lose 8-4.

Yeah. I know. Try sitting on the side line watching as a Tejanos supporter.

The already pretty thin defense is even thinner after last week's game where the Tejanos lost probably their strongest defender to an ankle injury for at least a month.

Not saying the Tejanos would have won just pointing out that along with the other issues I've well documented here, the injury bug has made it that much worse. There are also a few other issues I won't really touch on as not to cause any controversy for my BB. (it's not a coach issue, Jimmy is a great coach)

Let's just say that the Coach has shuffled almost the entire line up except for one position. Do the math.

The good thing is once again the Tejanos fought to the end. It would be very easy at this point to lose some gusto. At one point when it was 6-4, it look like the Tejanos might claw their way back.

But Andromeda didn't let up and finished nicely.

Also saw the last quarter of Amigos vs Select Force.

Amigos were down 2-0 after first half. Came back and tied it 2-2 but Force scored a late game winner.

Pretty certain D3 games were all rained out on 9/16, making scores exceptionally difficult to post...

There is one commissioner who takes care of all U17 scores this season in CL. He has done a great job so far posting available scores in a timely fashion (usually within a day of the games being played, two days at most).

Once we get all the scores in, we can start knee jerking!

FCD CENTRAL vs SOLAR RED - both thought to be contenders.
TEJANOS vs DTRW - depending on what Texans did yesterday, they can climb up the standings.
ANDRO RED vs ANDRO - family feud!

Texans defeated Tejanos today.

Andro Red pub-stomped Andro 96b 4-0. Who would've guessed. Not a close game until the last 10 minutes when Andro 96b had 5-6 chances. Two hit the crossbar, one hit the post, one a kid had an open net after beating the keeper and skied it and one or more the keeper had a miraculous save on. Didn't have any shots on him until then.
Red looked good, Andro 96b didn't.

Anyone got some scores to to share?

Solar Red 3-0 over Select Force

Well my original predictions aren't looking as foolish now as before. Texans Red West stronger than I anticipated and in first after 8 games. Tejano's 0 - 8 ouch.

With their team (Tejanos) at full strength it would have been a struggle not to finish at the bottom of the table. Add two or three injuries and short bench and it is definitely a BIG OUCH.

It's nice to see they are still trying and fighting in games and in practice. Their last game, loss to Solar Chelsea 3-0 showed they are at least going to play to the end.

They are now posted. Top 3 at the moment are:

DTRW: They have the best defense by far in an offensive league. Defense might win championships.
FCD/Comets: They have scored 5, 5, and 6 in their last 3 games. Didn't someone earlier in the year say they had no offense?
Solar Red: On a roll, doing enough each week to get points (usally 3 points lately).

Club Classic has been better than some expected and could easily climb back into the mix.
Andro can score but won't compete if they can't stop anyone.
Andro Red has been inconsisant.
Ditto for Texans White
Select Force started well but has lost it the last few games
Amigos have hit a rough patch and will struggle to stay up
Tejanos...well they are playing hard but are overmatched.

It's been a long tough year for the Tejanos. I was looking for them to at least compete to stay out of relegation. No excuses, at times they have shown they can compete. But playing a full 90 with 1 sometimes 2 on the bench on a good day, when everyone else is bringing in 7-9 players is just seeming to be to tough a task to stay in games they have kept close at times.

Add injuries into that equation and as time progresses in every game, they just plain run out of gas and teams pull away.

As the season comes to the winter break, anything can still happen. However, I see a big game on October 28 between Club Classic and Solar Red. Solar is hot right now, they started off 1 tie, 2 losses. Since then, they have 5 victories and 1 tie. Club Classic crushed them in the first meeting.

The way things are going, I see FCD (Comets) and Dallas Texans Red winning out until the break. But you never know how things will end up.

Anyone have the results from last night?
I heard DTRW won big over Andro; haven't heard anything on the other 3 games.

They posted these online a little while back. DTRW looked strong and put a beat down on Andromeda. Slightly surprised by DTW 2 Club Classic 0 and 16 Amigos and Solar tying.

FC Dallas (Comets) and Select Force play one week after everyone else on Nov 10. So standings won't have the same number of games for each. Still looks like DTRW and FC Dallas (Comets) will finish first half in 1 and 2 respectively.

Andromeda - 2
Tejanos - 1

Tough loss for the Tejanos this morning. It was knotted a 0-0 until about the 75th minute when the Tejanos scored first. The pressure from both Andromeda and being in a position for their first points of the season were a little much for the Tejanos. Andromeda took a 2-1 lead with 5 minutes left. The Tejanos fought until the end as had some pressure and a few chances but Andromeda held.

There are no morale victories in sports but it was nice to see the team in the game until the last minute. The already short bench still missing players to injury leaving them with one sub doesn't help either. It would be a dogfight with their "full" bench but at least they have continued to play hard this season until the end.

Oops... FCDC drops one and opens the door for that 2nd spot, even with the game in hand.
So any more scores?

DTRW vs Andro Red - big game that could close the gap tighter at the top.
Solar vs CCW - CCW could get back into the race with a win.
Select Force vs Amigos - fight for the relegation spot, but SF has a game in hand.

Solar Red 2-1 over Club Classic

Looking at the standings, this is going to be a close race in the Spring for the top two spots with several teams in striking distance. FCD still has 2 to play this Fall and can move back into contention very easily despite yesterday's result. Solar Red dropped points to Amigos, but is unbeaten in their last 8 with 6 wins after a very slow start. They fought back for the win yesterday, coming back to score 2 shorthanded goals after being down 1-0 to CCW. Andro can score, but can't prevent others from beating them. Andro Red can be dangerous on occasion. DTRW is playing very consistent and leading the pack, and really hasn't shown much weakness to date. DTW has been inconsistent but remains dangerous any given day. CCW is inconsistent (I think we have an inconsistency theme here...). Finally, say what you want about Tejanos, but they have been improving as the season has gone on. Still winless, but much more competitive in most of their games than they were initially. The lack of a bench is killing them. If they can pick up even 1 or 2 decent players over the break just to spell their other players, it should help.

Big games next week. Fun stuff...

So now that the Fall swim thru the league is over, who (in everyone's opinion) is the best team in the group? Let's see some mid-season report cards.
