96's - It's June 1 already

Its that time again. June 1st "Open Practices". Is there anything fun to report out there is 96 Land?
Surprise Coaching changes? Unexpected departing team mates? Exciting new arrivals?

Nothing should be unexpected at this age. I would expect the player pool to be 25% lower or more due to many not wanting to pay full price for 1/2 year of soccer, and others busy with jobs, school, etc.

D1 teams will be full and fine - everyone else will be fighting for enough scraps to keep their teams alive.

As Off_The_Woodwork suggests, things will change this year. My BB plays on a team promoted to D1 for the coming year, has played in CCSAI since U11, and while I'm not convinced that he won't change his mind, he has made the decision to walk away after U17. He is not interested in playing in college outside of high level intramurals, and wants to have the time to enjoy his friends and all the things that go along with his senior year. He's working part time and could always work his schedule around soccer, but he had no time to do other things. He'll continue to play school soccer and is going to put together an indoor team of his friends and play for fun. He's certainly earned the right to make that decision. Despite multiple fractures, a couple of concussions and other injuries, he's walking away with healthy knees and ankles. He'll make a heck of a coach one day to my eventual grandkids someday down the road!!

It's complete cold turkey since my daughter is walking away as well after her U15 year of club soccer. I'll miss all the friendships I've made on both the parents' and players/coaches' side of the pitch that I've had the priviledge to make, and weekends in the fall and spring (really, year round...) will be an adjustment. It's been a long run since back in the days of the TM forum and when these 96's were going through the QT, but what great memories we've got! Good luck to everyone!

None at all, as I appear to be out the same amount of money (or more) for a 1/2 season of U19 than I was for a full season of U17. Still haven't figured that one out yet but I am guessing that is one big reason so many quit after U17...ridiculous. Anyway, the last go-around for BB #1 so we'll just enjoy while we can.

Well, well.....I will predict the standings stay the same with the top 5 ending in the same order!

Apparently, there are a few more changes than expected in this age group. Not necessarily with the boys, but with clubs/coaching. So, am I hearing correctly that EP took his TFC team to DT to become DTRN? Also, that the DTR coach is also going to coach DTWW? What's the scoop on all of this?

Correct that EP's teams are now DTRN...Apparently, he didn't want to follow his revolters to LP, so he took his two good teams and made himself a deal with DT.
