- lack of players available for a particular weekend due to travel, prior event commitments, sickness, injuries
- allow potential new player to play with group
- beef up roster with other talent to WIN and keep parents happy (used in most cases)

Actually, depends on the "potential new player" comment. It depends on if you are discussing competitive or recreational. I agree with comment for competitive teams but under North Texas bylaws for recreational team creation if a player has either guest played for a team or played indoor with a team in last 12 months the player can not be added to roster of team officially unless it is the only available team in the age bracket.

Little puke's not doing any tournaments this year.
Besides, I'm not familiar with any teams or coaches in our area for him to guest play on.
