Personal Skills Training
So I am thinking about getting some personal skills/position training for my BB. I'm not sure really where to start. Does anybody have any suggestions where I should start? Should I look for specific licenses or certifications?

Re: Personal Skills Training
Dont waste your money on personal training.
If your BB is dedicated and will follow a training plan you can find what you need on-line. Everyone has an opinion on this subject. Below are some sites we have used with very good success in the recent past. (Once he understands the drills, begin to time him, setting goals along the way. Find ways to measure improvement, if you cant measure the improvement then you are wasting time). My son and I do a time test every other Sunday afternoon. Its good one on one time and it provides my BB a goal/objective to work towards.

Re: Personal Skills Training
I agree with your approach, at 12 your BB should be disciplined enough to work on their own. Sometimes they just need some motivation however if the desire to get better isn't their own, the battle is twice as hard.4theGame4 wrote:U-12
I have put my son with trainers to improve specific things and also to expose him to different coaches, its all about what works for you. We tried the 1 on 1 training over the summer and we got great value out of it, meaning, we noticed results after a few weeks.
Currently I have him in a skills class 1 hour a week (outside of his team practice) for the same reasons.
Beast 04, in my opinion, personal training should be used to target specific topics: fitness, striking the ball, ball mastery etc. I would start at home, as 4theGame4 mentioned. Look up Coerver training drills on you tube and try to master the movements on your own.
I can give more input if you reply with:
Age of your BB:
Current skill:
Desires:
As far as certifications I would look for at minimum a D coaching license, also someone that has worked with your BB age group. Most importantly I would look for someone that can translate what is going wrong and figure out how to make it right. No certification is going to help you do that.

Re: Personal Skills Training
Well if you are in Mesquite. I would look at teams that are in mesquite or clubs in that area. I would also contact the HS coach and he might know a good skills coach in that area.
I would try to work in a small group skills session - 4-6 players. That way you will definately get skills with tactical decision making. At U12 the players do need to be making good decisions in the small sided games arena, so it will translate to actual game play.
