Being new to boys select soccer, we were wanting to know what are the average club fees for a year? Are bigger clubs more expensive than smaller clubs? Any insight would be helpful. Thanks!

Rumored range:

Independents can be as low as $1000, but most range from $1800-2400.

FCD was at $2500-2800 last year
Liverpool is approaching $2800-3000
DT is famous for hitting the $3000 mark!

Be careful that you know exactly what's included and that you get what you paid for! How many tournaments are included? Are there extra fees?

Good luck tonight!

The Big Clubs cost between 2500-3000 with Kit fees of 350-500.

Independent clubs vary, but usually range between 1500-2500 with kit fees being around 300.

Hope that helps.

depends what you mean by independent.  if that means "any non-big club" then that price range likely applies to those with a paid coach and field costs and some smaller club structure.

If independent means "standalone team with volunteer-ish coach with no field costs" then it should be a lot less.

Pumas last year charged $2,150 (then the acting-coach jumped ship after getting relegated).

I put most small to medium sized clubs in the Indie category which probably covers a much larger range than what others may consider as independent.

FC Dallas, Solar, Dallas Texans, Liverpool, Andromeda are on my big club list. Except for Liverpool most of the big clubs have PA and DA and that is how I categorized the Big vs Indie clubs.

I usually get caught promoting the smaller Indies because they have some unique characteristics whereas the medium sized clubs share more in common with the big clubs.

i have always thought an independent was a 1 only team and any team with 3-7 teams in various age groups to me would be considered a small club and 8-15 would be a medium size and anything above that is a big club now the "big 4" of course is Texans,Solar,Andromeda and FCD thats just my opinion  Cool

There are not a lot of secrets here.

Classic league fees and related registration fees are around $600 per player / yr give or take

Field rental fees can run $0 to let's say $6,000 per year

Coaching fee

If your coach is a guy with a job / profession and his does this for fun, you will pay on the low end. If your coach does not have another line of work you will pay more. The 'big clubs' will assume a coaching fee into their fee structure and will plan on paying the coach one way or another.

Uniforms...no real secrets there either..

For what it is worth, Solar assumes in the most (tournaments etc) and it makes their fee look bigger. It was my experience that they were about the same / slightly more than FCD as tournaments and related were collected separately.

For the most part...is your coach charging a coaching fee? If so you play $2k or more annually. If not will be $800 to $1,200...

Liverpool dues are 2550 (discounted if you pay all at once), with a uniform fee of 380 for new uniform/100 if you have a uniform (some kind of supplemental fee for new practice clothes, backpack). We're paying all at once, and we have a uniform, so we'll pay 2573 for signing.

Don't forget those mandatory fundraisers with some clubs. You can have your kids out shlepping raffle tix and flowers or write checks for another $200-250.

Liverpool uniforms (IIRC) are two practice shirts/shorts, socks, two game uniforms, backpack, and warmups pants/jacket. I think its because it has Liverpool plastered all over it that adds to the cost.

The opportunity to be a Warrior. I kid. I kid. It's really for the upgraded backpack with zippers that work and some socks that fit pre-pubescent players.

Club fees Empty Re: Club fees

Post by stjohnstone52 7/2/2014, 11:27 am

Our club charges less than $750 a year.  I think that this is probably the minimum cost that you could have for select soccer.  We are lucky in that we have volunteer coaches, no field fees and a great deal on uniforms.  All of our fees go to leagues, refs, uniforms or tournaments.  We also don't offer all that a big club can offer and we only run one team a boys 00 team.  It should be noted that this does not mean that any club that charges more than $750 is pocketing the difference.

We play in the Plano league so our league costs are considerably less than the classic league.  (I don't know the difference as our team is not good enough to play in the classic league but we enjoy playing these teams in tournaments)  In addition, we don't do out of town tournaments, and we don’t enter the most expensive tournaments.  We played one six game indoor season last year and three tournaments.  Most of our boys play other sports and their main goals are to have fun and make their high school teams.  We don't do fund raisers because they aren't fun.

There are downsides of a low cost team; parents are less committed, so I think a small club is less likely to last than a big one.  We feel we are very competitive and had a long unbeaten streak last season but when a game falls on the same night as a regional school track meet we lose some players.  This probably doesn't happen with the Texans.   We think we do a good job coaching but hopefully our coaches don't put the time into it that a top classic league team does.  We think we offer great value and our parents like it when we occasionally beat big clubs but the old argument that you get what you pay for is a generalization because it's generally true!

Classic League fees are about $4,000 per team combined for Fall and Spring.  That includes all their fees and refs.  That's about $275 per kid on a typical roster.  Add in 4-5 tournaments, you are still at less than $400 per kid.

You can do it for a lot less than the $ being thrown around on this discussion.

Most of the expense is the coach and the fields. But you also get what you pay for. If you want a part time coach with G license or possibly no license that scrimages every practice, and coaches kick ball. The team practices in a city park with no lights, no goals, and doesnt go to any tournaments etc. then you should be paying less then $1000. If you want a nice field with green grass, real goals, lights, and a paid coach with a (b,c,d) license that understanding how to train shape, possession, field awareness and go to 4 tournaments a year, then you are looking to pay $2500+.

There are many guys with advanced licenses who don't do it for the money...or who don't take much money. As for the field quality...i have seen no benefit to playing on fancy grass...i can call Pele and ask...but a lot of guys grew up playing in fairly rugged conditions and turned out ok.

I would be careful to generalize an amount per club. The amount can vary from team to team, age to age in the same club. We are with LP and I know in our age the price for the teams varies from 1300 to 3,000 a year. The coaches fee and the amount of tournaments make the difference. You just need to do your homework as a parent from team to team.

Really it depends, the Dallas Texans Fort Worth division pay about $2350 plus uni kit, some of tehe others pay a bit more because of fields. I know of one coach who coaches for a big club team but he only takes about $500 a season to keep costs lower for team he makes up in coaching more academy aged teams.

The fact sheet I saw for FWFC looked to be about $4000 with 5 tourneys included. still had the uniform kit to buy.

I was told of an FC Dallas team where the coach is not getting paid at all and their was limited field costs.

So to sum it up one again, it depends.....
