Lets just say it's not difficult to get a list of LOCAL teams if you have a bb participating in DC.

Biggest joke of all. They are probably 3rd best FCD 02 Team. Maybe 4th.
I am sure there are plenty of of other teams in all age groups who may not be up to DC quality, but this one is glaring.

To top it off...the local teams (WHO QUAULIFIED) are forced to house/host foreign teams throughout the week or forefeit their spot. Yet (if this is true), those that aren't forced, but volunteer time can get in without qualifying? Probably want to put that * on your resume when stating DC participation.

Re: DC 2015 Accepted
I thought that the teams that qualified for the DC by either being #1-#3 in CL or won the qualifying tournaments would be able to pay the "fee" to not host a kid in their house.
What if your team gets eliminated early?
I heard that teams from Mexico and Canada have to pay their own hotels.
Where will these British, Colombian, German, Spain, or Argentine coaches reside?
I've heard a parent state that "By hosting a kid at your house, your kid will experience and possibly bond with this child and learn about his culture".
Isn't that what Google and the Travel Channel's about?
Both of my BBs have friends from countries like India, Ethiopia, Portugal, and the Phillipines. And Panamanian relatives.
Que mas quieres?!?!?

Some are bringing an entire entourage with them. I know Hoffenheim is coming with 10 people.

teams know this before they sign up (1) Definition of Dallas Metro Area Teams: Dallas Metro Area Teams are defined as those teams on which the majority of the players reside within the DFW Metro Area and which can provide the HomeStay Program for international teams on a reasonable, basis as defined by the Dallas Cup. This definition precludes teams/clubs from areas such as Wichita Falls, Tyler, Midland/Odessa, etc. from being considered for selection to participate in the Dallas Cup, regardless of where they compete or of their final position in any league play.

Re: DC 2015 Accepted
Any Dallas Metro Area team playing at DC has to "volunteer" to host a team coming from outside the USA/Canada/Mexico in what is called home-stay program.
A. All Dallas Metro Area teams that accept the invitation to participate in the Dallas Cup are required to provide the HomeStay Program for an international team if requested by the Dallas Cup office. Dallas Metro Area participating teams should be prepared to have a minimum of thirteen (13) homes/families available to provide the HomeStay Program.

Only the players are staying in host families, the coaches are staying in hotels. The guests players are staying about ten days. If your team is eliminated, you still have to keep the guest players.

I volunteer to host the Eintracht Frankfurt Coach if I can play on his team for a match (or let my 98B play)!

Re: DC 2015 Accepted
So let me see if I am totally getting this "once in a lifetime opportunity."
1. My BB qualifies with his teammates by winning a tournament or places 1st or 2nd in CL.
2. In order to realize the "win," I have to house 2 strangers for 10 nights, including Easter.
3. My BB has Staar testing and cannot participate in soccer that Sunday evening, anytime on Monday and not until late on Tuesday.
4. Maybe they ask me to pay more money if not hosting. $250, like previous teams have in past years? My son's team is eliminated in 3 games and he only makes it to 1-2 and has no guarantee on playing time because we are on the "list."
5. Our team gets "invited" to play in the Dallas Cup! We pay $895 to register. We collectively spend ? to feed and transport 22 kids from another country. 22 kids * 2 meals is 44 meals per day * 10 days is 440 meals. Even at $5 per meal, that is $2200 just for meals. Plus the extra driving.

Re: DC 2015 Accepted
Don't forget you also have teams that didn't qualify get in because they belong to the club hosting the event.
Also, does anyone knows if it's true that if you decline to host as a team you are barred from being invited in the future regardless if you win/qualify?

Re: DC 2015 Accepted
Some parents are genuinely enthusiastic about opening their houses to two strangers for 10 days. But I agree with you, there is no limit to the requests we receive from our coaches and clubs regarding time and money commitment. It is insane.

Re: DC 2015 Accepted
Not all soccer parents and their kids live in 1 family homes or apartments.
Some folks might have family over for Easter week and weekend.
My house rules may be different from what this child's used to. I'm not changing my house rules to accommodate this child. Don't get me wrong, the child might be an awesome kid.
Background checks don't mean crap! Most pedophiles are not caught the 1st time.
I wouldn't want my kids living with strangers who are FORCED to entertain him, or their kid can't play.
How many of these households have that "friendly" Pitbull or Rottweiler?
