Ouch! I thought Leite would at least draw them, but it looks like Cruz Azul dominated.

The decision not to dual roster some of their PA players is looking like an even bigger mistake than I originally thought.

Maybe Cruz Azul's goalie had a fantastic game with a lot of saves. Anyone see it? Did the coach mind his manners? This season has a lot of out of whack score lines.

@Ballwork,

That makes sense and is probably the main reason why they could not score against Cruz Azul, but 4 goals in the Texans net means that Cruz Azul must have spent some time in the attacking third because you don't get 4 goals without the work.

Leite has enough tactics to prevent that kind of score just by parking the bus so I imagine that Cruz Azul must have had a strong attack against the Texans.

Wasn't there, but I wish I had seen the game since I thought that Leite would have gotten the result or a draw so I was obviously 100 percent off on that prediction.

Congratulations to Cruz Azul for their first D1 win this season.

Cruz Azul has size and speed...  Set pieces and the ability to counter attack will provide this group the opportunity to surprise a few teams keeping their backs in a flat line...  I did not see the game, but know that CA has the speed to torch an unsuspecting defense...  Big shooters make for some exciting free kicks, and they can definitely put the ball in the net...  Should earn a few more "W" by the end of the season with their weapons...

I think you are 100 percent on your assessment of Cruz Azul. I think they are right on track for more wins and another year in CL if they keep building on their successes.

Like you posted, they have all the right attributes to be a competitor and I think it's impressive that they relegated once and have returned to D1 even stronger and more determined to stay.

@Ballwork

I heard that Leite didn't say much during the game and let the boys play.

I still think the Texans pushed these BB's into D1 CL one year early and it's a lot to ask them to make the big jump against teams who are more experienced in a division that is focused on winning above all else.

That being said, I would rather see Marcio develop them into a competitive team this season as a reward for being put in the pressure cooker that is D1.

Hopefully the Dark Lord will see the error in his ways and will send Darth Vader (Marcio) back to PA/DA where his style of coaching is more effective and the players are more hardened which makes them more receptive to his particular type of motivation and advanced training.

I don't know anything about Texans.   And very little about Jan-July 02 kids.   U13 TXN PA team seems to be having issues and may get two North teams relegated from U13.   Along with some lopsided scorelines.   U14 D1 team has not won a game.   I'm sure the DTS 03 team will do fine, but they were the third best DT 03 team last year.   Big shifts in players.

In U13 D1, what do you do other than give up the Castro bye and try to consolidate?   I don't know if dual-rostering helps.   If you are a U13 Texans PA player....do you really want to go play on one of these CL teams?

Ah well.   As far as having to win goes, this seems like the perfect season to try to just play better soccer.   Its pretty clear there are some weaker teams.   There are about 4-6 teams in the middle that aren't gonna get relegated and aren't gonna win enough games to be first.   (Hey, BB, how goes it?).    Lots of freedom to try to get better.   It won't happen, cause at the end of the day everyone answers to the baying mob, but its a novel concept.

Um....didn't "Marcio" happen to Marcio's team? (well that plus PA taking the remaining ones that stayed at the club).

I believe it is worth mentioning their goalkeeper; he was impressive vs Odyssey...  On an afternoon that Odyssey actually shot (in lieu of the all too familiar "holding it too long"), the CA keeper made some excellent saves and usually blocked the first couple of shots before conceding a goal ...  He has decent size, and is very athletic...  The interesting thing is that their most impressive offensive weapon is listed as a goalkeeper on their roster...  I could not recognize the keeper who played vs us (when I looked at the roster pics), but then again, it is hard to identify the players even when looking at our own roster pics...  It is funny how a picture from 5th or 6th grade can look like a completely different person when the kid gets to 7th grade...  Anyhow, the CA keeper that we played is no pushover, and should at least keep them in every game when he is in the net... It will be interesting to see how well they finish out the season, and I think they could shake things up if the stars align...

Any thoughts on Hunt vs Stricker this Wednesday?

I think Hunt can challenge Stricker because they have a good mix of players and they can play at full tilt all the way to the final whistle.

Adames vs Leite will be interesting because it is a game to decide which team is the Best 03B in the Empire so now would be the time to dig deep and give it all you got.

I will take Adames in a nail biter ultimately decided by a stellar set piece off of a left foot...  As for the other contest, it depends on which Hunt team shows up...  They could keep it close and grind out the "W", but could get down early and have to switch up their style (exposing their back line and net minder)... Either way, should be fun to watch it play out (get your popcorn ready)...

Never seen him in goal, but he is CRAZY FAST up top! Is he OK (his back)? He left at the end of the match vs our team... Our keeper had to stop a FEW of his shots... Super quick for a 12-13 yr old!
