Agreed; Cruz Azul's goalkeeper (on paper) is the fastest kid in CL... Played him in Copa ESPN, and he scored 3 on our strongest back by using his quickness, strength, and top in speed... He literally manhandled our backs in a game where we dominated possession but gave up a goal almost every time he was allowed a touch behind our backs... The kid actually playing in the net is big, strong, and has a TON of potential... Nice to see some of these keepers starting to grow into their bodies and show the athleticism that we all knew would accompany the big frames... Some big shoes to fill this year with the Academy ball (plus the accompanying player movement), and FCDP has secured a TOP netminder to solidify their already potent bunch... Although the CA keeper is looking good, I would have to agree with PLF that there are a bunch of strong keepers to compete with in this bracket...

Above comment made a bunch more sense when the other comment was still there... Anyhow, the CA player is a HOSS as a striker, and might be an exceptional keeper as well (but definitely belongs attacking)...

Thanks to my windows phone my earlier post was overwritten...

Cruz Azul has a good keeper and he has a chance to be one of the top GK's, but Odyssey, Stricker, and FCDP have the best keepers at this point in time any way you look at it.

Castro, Adames, and Cruz Azul each have excellent keepers who are challenging for these top 3 spots.

This year if you don't have an experienced GK you will concede a lot of goals.

Battle of the Texans prediction?  I am taking Adames...  They were surprisingly solid in PLD and should be able to put a few in the net in the game that determines who is "Alpha DT side"... Wish I could be there to see it play out...

Battle of the Texans?, it will be one team and is not going to be Marcio's. Marcio bought his own one way ticket from 2nd place to D2.

Same here... South has a killer shooter with a left boot of gold... If left unmarked or given a free kick in range he should find the back of the net...

PremierLeagueFan wrote:Any thoughts on Hunt vs Stricker this Wednesday?

I think Hunt can challenge Stricker because they have a good mix of players and they can play at full tilt all the way to the final whistle.

Adames vs Leite will be interesting because it is a game to decide which team is the Best 03B in the Empire so now would be the time to dig deep and give it all you got.

Just when I think you are starting to see the light, whaaaaam...I see posts like this. Hunt can challenge Stricker...?.?.?.?...that's a great joke. Adames vs. Leite will be interesting.........that's an even better joke! You must be spending too much time watching the PL, but certainly no the CL. You make it too easy for me to tell you I told you so.

The Leite team was screwed by non other than Hassan himself, as is typical of that idiot. He does what he wants when he wants, it's his business and that's all there is to it. The Leite team was going to lose a few players because of Leite, but the core was willing to stay and develop further another year. Since the 02 PA pool was so weak for the Texans, Hassan took the bigger core players to the PA team, only leaving Leite with a handful. Most of that handful left because they did not want to start over again, given that Leite coaches to the weakest link. The result is a team with only 2 players from last years team, most of what was left from Woodberrys team that was relegated (Woody got screwed worse than Leite), plus a few last minute recruits.

Great game full of pressure and Hunt showed that they are capable of breaking into the top 5 if they continue to play to their strengths.

In the end the final result was decided by little mistakes that a top team like Stricker will always be ready to exploit.

Stricker is a legitimate top team and showed that they can come from behind and make big adjustments to level the score on 2 occasions.

I was impressed at how well Stricker BB's were able to keep their heads when it looked like the game was slipping away.

Hunt validated Stricker as much as Stricker validated Hunt and I am glad I got to see this game.

Hunt definitely primed Stricker for the challenges ahead in the next few weeks and I look forward to watching the top 5 mix it up.

DT South 3 DT 0

Best start for DT so far and the score was 0-0 at the half, but in the second half DT South got in the groove and put it away.

Leite needs to stay the course and his team will continue to improve.

Adames kept adjusting players until it all fit and that is when the game changed.

At this point in the season, could the bottom 3 D1 teams finish in the top 3 of D3? As in 1, 2, 3.  I'm thinking not.

If you are asking if all 3 of them would be the top 3 teams in D3, then...um....no. But then the two top D1 teams and the bottom D1 team would not be the top 3 teams in D3 right now. But Trevino will be fine in D1, their losses were to the top 3 teams in the table.

I think you guys are giving lots of credit to Hunt. It is a enthusiastic team, including high energy parents (liverpool trade mark) and that is all. It will be a good game, but Cruz Azul is going to win. Besides, paying attention to Maradona, if CAZ brings some secret weapons, it will be more difficult for Hunt. Let's see, but as PLF mentioned, it is a hard prediction to make.

Stricker beat CAZ 4-1 and Hunt 4-2. Hunt put Stricker in trouble at the beginning of the game and led at the half so I am thinking that these two teams will be a close match.

My guess is that it will come down to Hunt's keeper and his ability to anticipate the speed of the CA attack...  CA will have opportunities, and should challenge the LP backs and keeper often...  SO hard to predict how these teams will play (consistency is rare), but I would think that this game is very close with the offensive edge going to CA and likely the time of possession to Hunt...  CA has the ability to run it up and score quickly, but when playing a possession team tend to become 1 dimensional and channel everything into their beast striker...  We tied Hunt and beat CA, but CA had WAY more shots on us...  Should be interesting...

Just to clarify, I think CA is the tougher team to beat due to their ability to score...  Do not remember an equally potent attack by Hunt, but hard to forget the tension when CA was in range due to their big shooters...  Set pieces come in fast and into the uppers (barely over the wall), and they can hit it like that from way out...  A shorter keeper will likely surrender goals if the refs are calling it tight...  We controlled the possession battle vs both teams, but the CA counter attack was almost scary because at any moment they could break away...  That kid is at top speed after 2 steps, and he is not the only threat they have...  Hunt plays solid ball, but may be out gunned...  However, who knows what teams will show up to play...  That's why they play the games!

I guess everybody sees it differently.

I asked the 12 year old local expert who would win and he laughed and said "Hunt" and looked at me as if I was stupid.  Which is how he always looks at me, so likely not noteworthy.
