Moving to area
Hi,
We are moving to the area and wanted to find a good soccer club in the Colleyville area. We don't mind driving 20 mins or so in order to find a good club if we have too.
Our son is currently in Academy at out current club( out of state).
Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Tom

Re: Moving to area
Welcome to the area, Grapevine Southlake Soccer Club has a U8 boys team coached by Shane Behn and is always on the look out for good players to strengthen the team. Practices are local on great fields and the club is affordable. He can be reached on sjbehn@gmail.com

Re: Moving to area
Andromeda FC has a facility in Colleyville. They have several solid 08 teams including one top 5 team coached by Jimmy Lanier. Solar has a couple of teams in the area, Greg Oglesby coaches 2 and Matt McKinney coaches 2 (varsity coach at Southlake Carroll and Grapevine Faith respectively). Coach O's top team is one of the top 2 or 3 teams in NTX at this age group, his second team is more developmental at this point. Both of of McKinney's teams are top 10 or so in NTX. Fever also has a team in the direct area as do the Dallas Texans but I'm less familiar with those coaches/teams. Want to travel a bit farther, there are lots and lots of options out there.
What position does your son play?

Re: Moving to area
Are you looking for a youth academy team in a competitive league or are you just looking for a good local club to play on and maybe develop to the more competitive leagues later?
This is NTX so you need to be clear on what you want or you will spend a lot of time and effort going down the wrong path. At the youth academy level we have at least 3 competitive leagues so it's important to figure out which team you would like based on the league or leagues that they play in.
In NTX (North Texas) soccer we have very competitive 8 year olds on our top teams and they usually stick together for the next few years up to the first or second year of select. It may sound unusual, but team selection needs to be taken seriously if you fit in the "Competitive" category because it will impact your future opportunities to play at the higher levels.
This is the age when soccer players are taught to master ball skills so it's important to know what you want because the top teams are practicing at a different pace and that is not "a fit" for all players so it's good to know what to accept or avoid.
The forum will help you get where you want to go so please post often and you will get quick answers to your questions.

Evolution (Colleyville Soccer Association) is right there on Pleasant Run. Great fields and great coaches near your house. http://colleyville.gotsport.com/clubsite/?p=5693
