PPL Power rankings

Following the power ranking equation - {(Ave Goal Diff/Game +1pt/win + .5pt/Tie - 1pt/loss) Div by 2} this is the PPL 04 (U-13's) combined Bracket Power Rankings. - I'm Thinking the Top 8 would definitely be competitive in Classic League.  Take note the # 3 team just came out of Rec - Pretty tough team by comparison.     Thoughts??

This is EXCELLENT!

As you get more games played you will see teams pass over or be passed from their placement (1st, 2nd...6th, 7th...) because the Gameday Power Rating equation measures quality of performance between every team in the league. Every goal made and conceded means something.

I'm Thinking the Top 8 would definitely be competitive in Classic League.

Didn't most of these teams fail to qualify?

Have you seen the bottom of Classic D3?
In 9 games played, ZERO wins and one of them hasn't scored yet. Luck of the draw had A LOT to do with who qualified.

No dog in the hunt but I do have an observation. It is my understanding that, unlike the first division, the second division of PPL doesn't challenge into CL next year.

When calculating your power ratings for the second division, are you using some type of "penalty" value to compensate for their status?

This year in PPL, the divisions really don't mean very much. They didn't have a qualifying tournament and the teams seem to be randomly drawn from a hat and placed in a division. That's why they used colors this year instead of numbers. So teams from either division will mostly likely challenge in CL next year.

With the Age Pure mandate, it is unfortunate that Classic and Plano Premiere didn't have a mini-season/tournament to sort out proper Division alignments. My opinion is that it hurts the kids not being slotted properly to their ability and that it may lead to kids becomming frustrated and disinterested in continuing in the game.

FC PROSPER DYNAMOS 04B are legit. These kids have flow under the radar but its a strong squad. I expect to see this team in classic next year

Who have they played and won against that would make you think that?

Not to say they are not a good team. They are. But, before I would say they will make Classic, I would want to see them play some teams that may also have the chance to make Classic.

I can appreciate the math homework and understand the random effect of the draw. But, unless you know all 42 teams in both divisions and their individual competitive value vs. any other team in the combined mix, it will be quite the task to rank them adequately beyond the obvious top 5 in each group.

It seems there will be a large challenge tournament for U14 CL D3 next year. If you think about it, what a mess that is. The kids are U14 before the CL tables get sorted out. That's crazy!!!

Prosper Dynamo??    Not so sure about the real deal yet!  The best team they played ranks #7 overall the next 11 teams they played rank 12,15,19,21,22,24,28,32,36,37 & 39th overall. Pretty Tame!  Play the FCD Gold, either Barcelona or High Plains drifters teams then we can talk the real deal I'm thinking....

The "FC" version came from CFBSA.  The "SC" is at the top of the PPL "Red" standings, but their Fall schedule has been cake.  Only descent teams they played were Roma and Frisco Xtreme.  Their Spring schedule will prove if they are legit or not, they'll have to face lots of the top 10 teams as the standings sit now.

I see that Prosper Dynamos tied Div 3s Xtreme 1-1 and whooped Div 2s Athletico Espanol 3-1 which again proves our point of Div 3s superiority over Div 2.
By looking at the power rating I will make the following distinction;
9.0 and above stand an excellent chance of qualifying regardless of their draw,
7.0 and above stand a good chance but definitely need a favorable draw,
3.0 and above need a very favorable draw and a lot of luck,
3.0 and below would be best to save the $795 entry fee and not ruin your off season.

KEEP IN MIND that these teams will likely compete with the following tough and hungry relegated squads--
Falls Town, Solar Chelsea and Crush.
