Problem when 08s go Select?

I know we are still a year and a half away from this, but does anyone know if any changes will be made regarding Select qualifying in 2018?  Once the USSF small sided mandates are fully implemented this August (2017), the U10 age division will play 7v7 (currently, the U10s are playing 9v9).  So, the 08s will go from playing 7v7 in U10 to 9v9 in U11....the very year they go Select. Though I am a big proponent of Small-Sided play, it seems this will add only more chaos to the months before Select qualifying.

It's not much different from the days when U10's played 9v9 and U11's played 11v11. In the late Spring and Summer, most tournaments would offer 9v9 and 11v11 options. Teams with an eye to U11 QT would play 11v11 in Spring/Summer tournaments.

Look for Spring/Summer tournaments to offer 7v7 and 9v9 for U10. I bet most teams will pick up a couple of extra players and play in the 9v9 divisions.
