Re: 97 Beat the Heat
Congrats to TFC; nice result. You were able to take the bracket due to your +20 goal differential vs. DTRS' +9 when both teams ended with the same number of points and tied in their head-to-head game. For all you posters that rail on teams for winning games 12-0, here is a reason teams should never back down, among many other valid reasons that others have stated before.

Re: 97 Beat the Heat
I saw the final and FC Dallas looked really good. On another note. The Superclub tournament was well organized and the fields where like carpet. When it became hotter than expected they introduced two water breaks per half for the safety of the players. However there was one thing that amused me a bit. One of the finals on the girls side went into overtime and they had to play 5min halfs playing 7v7 on the big field. I guess the organizer wanted to avoid pk shoot outs. Now the real kicker was that one team had a red card issued during regular play so in overtime they actually played 7v6.corona wrote:Also congrats to FC Dallas 97 boys prem for winning the Superclubs 96 group in Little Rock

I'd say the same about the Beat the Heat. It was our first time attending this one and we'll definitely go back in the future. Fields were not terrific but not terrible either. Tournament was well run...ref'ing was great and during the games that were played during the hottest part of the day, we were also given 2 water breaks per half.

ref'ing was great? Well, it had some ups and downs. In one game, there was a pass back to the keeper, who bobbled it and let it roll into the goal. Neither the the linesman nor the field ref were in position to see whether it was in. The keeper dived into the goal and threw the ball out with his hands. The call? No goal and no kick awarded, just play on.

Re: 97 Beat the Heat
Ref'ing was great???? Hardly! It was the only part of the tournament that wasn't top notch. The fields were in as good condition as you can expect in 105 degree heat. The competition was good. The vendors and programs were excellent.
But the ref'ing in the 99 group was not good. I realize that no matter what the call 50% will not be happy. But at least know the rules!

Well, sounds like we got lucky because we didn't have any problems in the 4 games that we played.

Re: 97 Beat the Heat
We only had one game where the ref was a negative factor. Waayy too involved in the game. Got on to the parents for normal sideline noise and threw the opposing coach out of the game for making a reasonable protest on a call. Maybe he might have lost his campaign for class president 20 years ago and still hasn't gotten over it?
