Re: Top 2001 Teams after the first few games
Very good game between AndroRed and DT Densk. DT won 1-0. Both teams had strong runs and a number of possessions. Andro is a very disciplined team at this age. Looks like they should have great games in the future.

Re: Top 2001 Teams after the first few games
Like a previous poster stated, these kids are 9 and 10 so you can't really point to one or two games and make a good assessment. The best you can do is look at the overall results and lump teams together at this point. I would say:
Top 6 (alphabetically):
Andromeda Red
Dallas Texans - Densk
Dallas Texans - South
FCD Premier
Solar
Solar Red
Next 6:
Andromeda Molomo
Dallas Vitesse
FWFC White
Manchester United
TFC Angell
OC Wizards
Don't the Andro 1-2 and FCD Snell 1-2 share players? I think so and that's why I've only included each once.

I agree stk1 9-10 year olds have good days and bad days it's difficult to rank them so far. As we get closer to select things will change and ranking teams will be somewhat easier I hope
Yes Andro 1-2 and FCD 1-2 share players

I thought they were pretty good last year -- they are getting smoked in just about every game this year. Did they lose a bunch of kids or something?

Re: Top 2001 Teams after the first few games
Jon lost a number of kids to AndroRed and FCD-Premier. He also is frequently short on player. While they are losing, they still have some quality players, can still move the ball, and are not as bad as their record suggests. They would still beat 2 division teams easily. He remains a tremendous skills coach and an excellent role model for young boys. I cannot applaud Jon enough!

Didn't intend by my question to cast aspersions on Watters -- I agree that he is a great coach. But that's also why I wondered what happened to the team. And I wouldn't be so sure that they could beat the division 2 teams "easily" -- from what I have seen, there are 2-3 good division 2 teams that would beat several of the D1 teams.

Re: Top 2001 Teams after the first few games
First of all Jon lost only one player to FC Dallas premier and about the boys that are in Andro Red, they have been always with andro since this team was River Plate. They played in the two teams almost for 2 years and then decide to stay only in Andro. Also one or the best player Jon use to have (#99) is in Andro now.Only 3 players left to Andro from Studio Brasil.Jon is an excellent coach, I hope he rebuilt soon his team and be competitive again. His Studio Brasil team was really good and was a really pleasure to watched them play.

Andromeda Molomo, Texan Densk.C, Texan Wolf/Densk, and possibly Liverpool Callagan should be playing in division 1. Andromeda Molomo picked up some very athletic kids over the summer. These 4 teams may not be able to beat the top tier of division 1, but would be good competition.

Re: Top 2001 Teams after the first few games
likewise i did not want to take anything away from the teams where Jon's players have left etc... i also do not mean to inflate his team. unfortunately, he has been short on number of players in some games. i also do not mean to criticize 2 div teams. it will be interesting to see how teams play out over the next 7-8 months. i am not looking forward to the politics, however...

Yeah, I was thinking of Andromeda Molomo, Texans Wolf, and Liverpool Callagan. They, to me anyway, look better than the struggling D1 teams -- of course, they have been playing weaker D2 teams instead of D1, but you get my point. Seems to be a lot of good competition at this age group -- anyone have perspective on how the 01s compare to the older groups when they were this age? My impression is that the older groups now have 2-4 really good teams and then there's everyone else, but we have so many strong 01 teams that I find it hard to believe this year group will be so top heavy in future years.

I believe since the 01s seems to have a large pool of talented kids some of the bigger clubs are going to have 2 teams in D1 once Select starts. My guess is that it will probably continue to be top heavy due to the movement of players and pooling of top talent to the first team of the big clubs. The politics have already started and will only get worse as we approach Select.

Re: Top 2001 Teams after the first few games
No matter the current state of the teams, you can pretty much count on this from the clubs year in, year out come qualifying:
D1:
2 Texans
1 Texans South
2 FCD
1 Solar
1 Solar Red
2 Andromeda
Fill in the rest with any of TFC, Liverpool, FWFC, independents, or a 3rd team from the big clubs. The top teams are already starting to separate themselves and will continue to do so in the run up to qualifying. Rest assured that the politics will get worse...teams like the Texans are only beginning to merge their top group. Kids that have played together for 3 years of academy will be split up as the talent comes together. I hear from parents of kids who are "just helping out the second team from time to time"...no, they are slowly preparing you for a move to that team. That is just the way the system is.

Re: Top 2001 Teams after the first few games
Another pertinent question...who ends up taking each team come select?
Solar -- Partain
Solar Red -- Oglesby
Andromeda -- is Harju now the coach?
Texans -- Roderick Scott? Clint Craft?
FCD Premier -- heard they promised it to Waters when he came on but who knows

Just from what skill I have seen. In reality, Manchester United, NTX Strikers and Dallas Tigres will most likely not get a top 10 seed unless they do well in King Tut or Puma Cup. And the other big clubs will slide in their place even if they don't deserve it. Sad to say it, but Classic League is not that nice to independent teams... O wait did I say that out loud.

I heard the coach for the Texan might be John Gall.
I'm going to take a crack at the top 10...
In my opinion….from the games I have watched and the scores posted…
1. DT Academy South Adames
2. Solar RED
3. Solar Partain
4. DT Densk
5. Andromeda Bazan
6. FC Dallas Premier Snell
7. DT Academy Wolf
8. DT Densk.C (did not bunch them with the other DT Densk team since they are in D2)
9. Andromeda Molomo
10. Liverpool Callaghan (Wilco) or TFC Angell
Once Select starts, the Texans and Andromeda will probably be the top two teams since their pool of players are deep.

Perhaps, but I would think he would have to give up one of his 99 or 00 teams that he just took this year. That, or the 01's would get a very spread thin Gall (he also coaches HS and his own son's 03 team).

Re: Top 2001 Teams after the first few games
Going off recent, and when I say recent I mean summer tourneys and SDL, there is one team listed that has only lost to ONE other '01 team since May... Including beating all the other teams listed ahead of them in one recent post. 1 or 2 of those teams multiple whippins by more than 4 goals. Do the research and get back to me. When this team has its own players (no other players from the 2nd team for ANY reason) they cannot be beat by any other '01 team in TEXAS.

Re: Top 2001 Teams after the first few games
Is it the TEXANS???
If I had to bet, I would say Texans will have the top team by QT just by sheer numbers available to choose from. But from what I have seen they do not dominate the way the 99 and 00 Pomykal teams did at the same point pre-select. Maybe it is just because the top team was more settled a year out than it is this time around. Would still like to hear who the coach will be, too. I would think that would matter to some.
