Who are the coaches for the local DA teams for next season? At this point, some have been mentioned. Who has been confirmed?

Don't see Zua Zua losing his team as they move to U19. See Solca as U17 coach since Castro can't coach his own kid.

Stricker is rumored to take U17s. Pretty sure Gall would disagree that you can't coach your own kid.

Stricker will be a dad coach next year, along with Gall.

What is the official ruling with the DA on this topic?

Castro and Gall have both already been head coaches of teams where their boys were full time players.

Yes, Castro and Gall have already been head coaches, and other coaches have also done it that way in the past (ie DeLeon). Stricker has coached has BB for quite some time and will now head to DA with most of the existing 02 starters.

I'm just not convinced the dad coach belongs in the DA. IMO, there is a natural built in bias that should be exempt at this level.

DA put restrictions that you can not coach your own child. You also have to have an A license. I don’t believe Stricker has it.
Solca will have the U17 with Stricker as Asst.
Zuazua will have the U19

Asst coaches. It's hard to tell from the sideline. That rule is being abused through the loophole.

Unless the rules are changing for the 2018-2019 season, as I read them, only the academy director needs an “A” license. Technical coaches (which can be head coaches) only need a “B” license. In fact, coaches that do not have a “B” license can still be assistant coaches under the Coach Apprentice Program, which is how Salazar could be on the Texans DA coaching staff (assuming he does not have a “B” license). (As a caveat, I am often wrong. Therefore, I am sure that I am missing something.)

Soccer27, where did you read that DA coaches can no longer coach their kids? I agree with Finish1; when you coach your kid, understandably, their is an inherent conflict of interest. Thus, I think it would be a good rule and in line with the stated goal of DA, but I was unable to find a reference to the rule.

Just read through the rules and regulations. I did not see anything saying a coach could not coach a player that is related to them. The appendix has quite a bit on ethics and I didn't see anything there that would raise it as an issue.

A written rule was not referenced, but the message was clear that U17 and U19 coaches could not coach their sons. Not a demand for the younger ages as teams are still forming and rosters are in flux. Ways to get around that is have the dad be the assistant. It would be interesting to see if Stricker and Castro merge their kids for a DA U17 team with both being assistant coaches.

There must be some 02 Solar parents on here that know what is going on with the team. You'd think the team would be a combo from those two teams.

Earbucket, thanks for the information. Was this at a full DA meeting or a meeting related to only Solar DA? Just curious. As stated, I think it makes sense, but as you pointed out in your post, there are clearly ways to violate the spirit of the rule without actually breaking the rule. That, however, is how life seems to work.

Solca has held several 02 pool practices with all 3 Solar D1 teams. Stricker will be assistant coach.

I have heard that DA prefers that coaches not coach their own son but it is not a written rule.
