D1 teams set

Looks like the teams are set for D1 next season. Its been a great year thus far and looking forward to the last 3 weeks.

I remember all the "fun" debate from the Qualifying Tournament days (does that seem like just yesterday or 2 years ago?) about how the teams were ranked. Look like they didn't do too bad a job. The top 8 are in D1, with DT Craft (ranked #15) and Sporting United (#19) the two new teams. Way overranked was TFC Angell, currently sitting at #3 in current D2. FCD Waters, although making D1, was overranked at #10 and FCD Gomez was way overranked at #16. Congrats to FCD Blue (Che) (#21) and Anoranzas (#22) for exceeding their rankings with a solid showing in CL. Looks like FCD South (Vedral) also substantially outpeformed its initial ranking (#34). So it looks like they did a pretty good job with the top teams and everything after that is a cr@pshoot.

I am sure I missed others that outpeformed -- sorry, I don't mean to slight anyone!

Actually they are mathmatically set. 3 games to go and all teams do not have a chance to catch craft.

Now the focus shifts to who will finish 19th and 20th for the year and be moved to D3.

There has been a considerable amount of movement in the southern half of the standings in the last few weeks as these teams have mostly been playing each other and not the top 10 teams.

If I go by those rankings, give kudos to Mansfield Samba , they were ranked 47 th , playing in D3, making a strong push to D2 for 2012 fall season.

Ayes Black playing in D3 deserves some kudos.

Nice top 50, brings back memories ,and nice to see then and now.

DT Gall is definitely number 1 now.

That top ten was only missing Sporting and Dallas craft..nice.

The 11 - 20 was only missing blue (21) Anoranzas (22) and Vedral (34)

Very impressive as to the consistency (impressive to me).
I never respected those standings before, I do now.

So am I correct in understanding that the 19th/20th seeded teams at the end of this season in D1 will be relegated to the next seasons D3, and the top two teams at the end of this season in D2 will be promoted to next seasons D2?

Also outperforming based on current 01B D2 standings:

• Mansfield Samba (+23)

• FC Dallas West (+13)

FCD Gomez didn't go through qualifying due to unforeseen circumstances, but should qualify for one of the 2 open D3 spots next year.

There were definitely several teams (about 5) ranked in the 20's that didn't qualify for Classic.

With all the speculation that one of these D1 qualified team may not be returning next year, the race for 11th place takes on extra importance this weekend as the 11th place team may find itself promoted up to D1 next year.

Should be great to watch as there is a log jam for 11th and most of those teams will be playing each other in this final weekend.

I intended for my post to be more focused on the games this weekend as teams wrap up the season. Can the 11th place team sneak into D1? First team to 20 points gets there.

Wizards vs. Premier: premier better not take this game lightly as the wizards will be riding high on confidence and go for back-to-back huge upsets.

Liverpool Callaghan vs FCD Blue: a few weeks ago blue was a popular pick for relegation but has managed to climb all the way up to 12th. Callaghan has had a very good season. I suspect the winner of this game comes in 11th, hats off to both clubs.

Liverpool marshall vs. Anoranzas: another nice showing for a Liverpool club. Anoranzas has had an inconsistent Spring.

I don't know if a D1 team will fold or not, but was only pointing to the speculation we have all seen including:
1. The "Keeper Needed" thread from late January that quickly derailed.
2. The weekly Titans Turmoil threads
3. The annual Fleecing of the Indies that takes place each summer as these players are pulled to the bigger clubs.

Being in D1 next year is not going to be fun for Liverpool / Blue, Anoransas. The top 6 teams will beat up on the bottom 4 teams, that cannot be fun for anyone.

Personally, the kids need to grow and learn to play. Not the D1 / D2 / D3 stuff (However I seem to be weird for thinking that way)

I agree, I watched dts dismantle craft and it was a shame. The top teams will win and teams that are pretty good will eat constant defeat and dishearten good players and teams ,instead of playing against teams that they are competitive against.

Sampaio (Titans'01) is moving to Samba FC but he plans to take the teams with him. Same teams just different club.
