Bobby Rhine Invitational - $895?
Could not help but notice the huge disparity in entry fee for this tournament compared to similiar ones in the area:
Bobby Rhine Invitational - $895
DTSC Fall Festival - $595
Plano Labor Day - $585
What am I missing that justifies this tournament's entry being $300 more?

It's $895. Not a typo.
Seen it consistently at that price on tournament website, Got Soccer, and in emails promoting the tournament.

Re: Bobby Rhine Invitational - $895?
Last year it was only $600.
The sanctioning form does say it is $895. Maybe they will try to jutify it because it is a Dallas Cup Qualification tournament.

It's a free market. As long as teams are willing to pay the increase in price, tournaments will keep raising their prices. Isn't there two DC qualifying tournaments? How much is the other qualifying tournament?

And it's $895 as well for U11 and U12 even though DC qualifying doesn't even apply to those younger ages.

That's theft pure and simple. I don't care if people want to pay it. I hope thats wrong.

Why not zero. Stupid comment. $595 is expensive but to bump another $300. yeah thats theft. Unless they are planning on having a piss boy by the bench so the kids don't have to run to the lew. Then its money well spent.

Re: Bobby Rhine Invitational - $895?
"Theft", pssshh. The Surf cup is $1250. Is that "Theft"?
A tournament can set its entry fee however high or low it chooses, and you can either pay it, or not. Now, a smart tournament will set a fee that is in line with its level of prestige, otherwise it might not have any entrants. Is being a DC Qualifying tournament worth an extra $300? Who knows. But let's not throw around harsh words like theft.

Re: Bobby Rhine Invitational - $895?
If it's a serious concern then take action. Convince your club to boycott the event until the prices return to acceptable levels. Try to convince leadership in other clubs to boycott the event as well. If the Bobby Rhine doesn't return the prices to the standard level next year or the year after, maintain the boycott. Fewer registrations will hurt that event and its reputation badly.
Some teams will still sign up this year and grab a free shot at Dallas Cup but ultimately that hurts the DC. With poor representation at this event, eventually the Bobby Rhine will lose their status as a DC Qualifying tournament.
If we don't stop the higher prices for tournaments now, and teams still rush to pay for this fee, you can expect other tournaments to start charging more because they will realize that they can.
With all that said... Teams will still rush to pay for this tournament. Nobody will boycott it because the people with the checkbooks have no self control. You might as well plan to increase your personal budgets right now to cover this new cost to your team.

Perhaps you don't understand what comes with being linked to the DC.
The DC is not just another run of the mill tournament in Dallas. It is an International tournament where teams from Europe, Asia and South America qualify and compete. Many MLS teams bring their best academy teams to this tournament. Few North Texas teams have competed and won the thing.
The referee's and representation at this tournament are elite. FIFA and National badges do the Super Group games.
To get the opportunity to get to play in the tournament is no small task and I expect several high-quality teams to vie for a spot in the DC. This will not be an easy tournament to compete in or advance, much less win.

Several teams will miss the Bobby Rhine tournament in the 00 bracket because they play in Disney instead.

Just received an email promoting the tournament and reminding teams to register...and now price has been lowered to $600.
I guess the free market has spoken.
