If you play up on a team in academy, are you able to keep playing with them when they start select?

Re: playing up
Nope, your son can play up once he becomes select age (U11).sports609 wrote:If you play up on a team in academy, are you able to keep playing with them when they start select?

Re: playing up
Another thing to consider when playing up is disrupting team chemistry. Yes, you can play up in Academy. But they cannot move into Select with that team when they hit U11. They will have to drop back down to their own age group. And there is the rub. The total impact will be felt with two teams. First, the team that your child played up with. Second, on the team they will be forced to play in their own age group later. I agree with G-man on this one. Wait to play up when they hit Select.

Re: playing up
Best to play age pure unless your personal schedules dictate otherwise. I could see playing up if it's with a sibling/neighbor or coach you like - but, the kid (and parent) needs to know that will end, most likely the Spring prior to select. If you are just after better competition - play up in indoor or rec.

Re: playing up
Actually G-Mans answer said nothing about, wait to play up when you hit select age.
Also there is impact on every team every year in select soccer and academy dont think one child is going to make or break a team.
Thanks German for your answer.

Re: playing up
Actually you don't have a choice. You can't play up in CL until you are actually in CL. Once he is U11 he can then return to playing up. Many teams actually move the players back down to their age groups the year or season before so they can start building their CL squads.
