Ok, so. Now that our pointer fingers are checked. Would you say that one of the top girls teams is just as good as one of the top boys teams at this age?

IMO the boys had better speed but the girls passed the ball better.

You maybe right but size don't necessarily means they have skills. Rosales is a top 5 boys team respectively so.

I wouldn't go that far. Don't see us beating Solar red anytime soon. BUt I like to think we could at least make any of the boys teams work for the win

Great win for Liverpool Rase but if that was Arturo's team, i do believe they were without Arturo and their best player as they were both across the pond at some place with some team called real madrid.

well it was his team and yes he was not there he was on the TEXANS trip to Real Madrid. I do hope you are not suggesting that they are a one man team. From what I saw they are a very good TEAM with plenty of talented players

Skills were not the topic/complaint put forth in the original post, only size. That is all I was referring to.

Without a doubt, these girls are great competition for the better boys teams at this age.

They are a great group of kids and parents. It was a great day of soccer. Hope to meet up with them again.  

2nd rankings that include tournament games from this weekend.  These are once again just for fun and for adults only and my opinion only.

Pretty unfair on Rosales. They are a good team with some skilled kids. We'll see how the other top teams do against the girls in Plano!

it's unfair but I don't think Rosales will have any problem showing him how wrong he is.  For the record RASE isn't SRSA different teams and different styles of play with few similarities

fwiw, at this age (i.e. a year ago) the SRSA girls were a lot closer to the top 03 boys teams than they were at the end of Spring.

They were still a lot bigger, and probably faster, and almost assuredly train more but there was some gap in the fast-twitch that just appeared out of nowhere and they were suddenly getting drilled. Relative to their peers I'm sure SRSA well ahead of any local boys team, its just the way it goes. There has to be some transition from "equal" to "omg don't make me watch the WNBA" and it probably starts any day now. Make hay while the sun shines.

Oh no doubt it is already started. It was nice to see a girl get a pass in open space with miles of field to run in only to be surprised at getting run down. There are girls on the team not used to not being the fastest and getting caught. Taking a players athleticism away forces them to use the ball and decision making to solve their problems. This is all to get better not for a hey look at me moment. Just hope to be competative so we don't waste the other teams time. Plano labor day will be fun

Sounds like the team is not finding good competition from the '04 girls side.

Sounds like the team is not finding good competition from the '04 girls side.

From last I recall, Im not sure beating the #2 ranked girls '04 u10 team at one point 11-0 is called competition.  Hey, but what do I know..

Not worried about the rankings... DT Rosales will do just fine as things move forward. We were down more than the coach and one very talented player, but the boys love to play, and both coach & parents thought it would be a good warm-up for the Fall.

Even if all of the pieces had been in play, and the results had been different, the LP RASE girls are a good team and should get to play with the "better" boys teams.  Both groups will benefit.  For all the talk about "development" around here, it would be silly not to let them play with the "big boys" ... Good for them & far more challenging for the boys than playing a "better" 05 group & quite a few 03 teams... which is no longer an option anyway.

Glad to hear they are playing Gold at Plano.  I was told this weekend they had to play Silver...

How do both groups benefit? The only benefit is for Liverpool.. I dont see any good coming out of boys playing girls in a competitive, physical environment. You teach boys to respect girls and then what, now go kick the crap out of them, but only until the game is over..

well I would hope you don't kick the crap out of anybody because thats not soccer. But if your sons only soccer tool is to beat up on the opposition then it will be a long day for him if he plays RASE. They have been beat up by some 03 girls teams alot bigger and stronger than him and it won't work. The world you are teaching your son of the weak, puny, dainty flower that is only to be looked at and protected has changed. He will find that in life he will have to compete based on his ability not his sex. If you are a good team or one trying to get better you probably understand the benefit of playing another good team (especially one you haven't played over and over already) regardless of the sex of its players. Otherwise no amount of explaining will do it because you would rather run over a weaker team than face the possibility of losing to a girl. And I can assure you that unless it has been taught to them no kid wants to lose but they don't care if its a boy or a girl. DD was absolutely crushed and angry when she lost to one of the top 03 girls teams. She didn't care they were older. She will be just as upset when she loses to boys.

I would love to hear your explination as to why it's not the level of soccer that is being played that matters but rather the sex of the opposition that does?

The benefit is for the egos of overzealous parents. Tournaments and leagues are not setup as coed and should remain as such.

It's sort of like common courtesy of parents sitting across the bench from their team on a sideline or staying on your side of the field. No rules against it, but it is courtesy.

The girls have no competition and have to play boys to get it. I understand the argument that DD may fall behind her peers because she is unable to develop properly with the current state of competition. There are ways to get what you need and stay within the parameters of league play.

seems like it would be a benefit to just stay and crush teams in your age group if it was all about ego. Why play games that you will lose. So there are ego's involved but it's on the otherside. BB played a rowdies (girls) team the summer before select in a tournament. We won and but it was one of the tougher games we played in that tournament. Sure there were complaints but seem to be most loud from the teams that got crushed by them not the teams that beat them. The only comment I remeber hearing from my bb was "wow they are big". And it is within the parameters of league play just not within the parameter of parents delicate egos. But don't worry, recieved the same kind of hate within the older girls groups before. There are complaints about the younger team playing up to (the reasons are the same). The girls will win some and they will lose some and you will forget all about them. For all of the angst displayed this is something that has happened year after year and will continue to happen after this team is long gone and forgotten and no boys have been or will be hurt in the process. #girlsruleandboysdrool

There are a few 05 girls that seem to think that there daughters are good enough to play/practice with the 04 boys teams...obviously they aren't on your team ...don't know why they can't practice with them instead of a boys team and if the girls think it's ok to play in the boys tournaments then why not make all tournaments co-ed ..let's let the boys team register in your division.  We can take the top 5 boys team and play Gold bracket girls...how do you think some of the parents would feel?    If you need competition, schedule scrimmages with older girls teams within your own club or scrimmage outside the tournament venue that include "boys" division.    I'm sure there are some silver 04 boys team that would love to play silver level girls teams.
