Giggs_11 wrote:maybe I am confused on what you are asking. The fcd jrs who are treated like professionals in training play in the academy league are not allowed to play other sports. Fcd youth teams that play in classic, ppl, or apl are allowed to play other sports as long as their coach agrees. I have always alllowed my players to play hs and I encourage my hs players to find a way to play outside school if they currently do not.
This is a new concept for FC Dallas(Juniors) that they are paying for/playing a team in Classic League in the U-15 age group - I'm just curious if the same considerations apply to this team like their "Academy League" teams that the boys can't play HS sports/other sports since they get a free "select soccer" ride. Other youth clubs haven't applied the same restrictions at this point, at least to my knowledge confused which is limited at best. Very Happy
Ok let me get this straight. FC Dallas (Juniors) is a brand new team and allowed a D-1 slot from FC dallas youth who folded one of their teams and has a very "loose" affiliation with the pro team??? If I was a D-2 team, I would be pisssed!

You would have to think Juniors would be a little better but I think all of D-1 will see the improvement of the combined FCD Youth.
This will be the year that the grand champion will not be a Dallas Texan team.

Last year was the first year the Texan team was grand champion. Before that it was always the OCU version...

If FC Dallas "Jrs" is giving the players a "free ride" is that also true? FC Dallas Youth doesn't have the same clout.
So is Feruzzi's team getting a free ride? It was stated on CL rules (at one point in time) that a free ride was given only on basis of need. I'm sure CL and FC Dallas have re-written the rules some way or another. Shocked

I heard that they are getting a "free ride". I also thought this was against CL rules but can't find anything to confirm in the rules. It does provide an advantage that most teams can't offer although CD Chivas in D-1 is probably close from what has been posted, but the players do have to contribute to league fees/uniforms I think.

They were only OCU in academy and the first year if I remember right.

They may have been flying the Texan flag, but it was still the OCU unit. The pride of the Texans (the Dallas Red team) finally unseated them last year. In a convincing way... And not to be outdone this year...

Hey, they wore the red and represented the club around the country...i would say that is part of the machine...
DTR had some significant changes...I just don't think they will repeat.

Gotsoccer posted scores show "the OCU version" with 4 wins and three ties against the "pride of the Texans" overall. Last years league games were both ties, 2-2 and 0-0. I agree the "pride of the Texans" won the league convincingly last year, but please try to keep it in perspective when you are talking about vs. specific teams.
