Shame on Classic League
Can't believe they are going to let forfeits decide relegation. Just sad

Re: Shame on Classic League
What can classic league do about it? The teams that are up for relegation shouldn't rely on other teams to decide their fate. If they handled their business on the field they wouldn't have to worry about a forfeit by other teams. Just saying!

Re: Shame on Classic League
Forgive my noob question, why is classic league important and why does it matter which division you play in?

Re: Shame on Classic League
It is not a good way to decide things if some teams get forfeits while others have to actually win a game?
Maxeffort, If it didn't matter it wouldn't be called "competitive" soccer.....Some folks are more competitive than others so how much it matters depends....

My child is younger and perhaps the reason why im not concerned on the level of competitiveness.
Perhaps classic should not count forfeits towards relegation, not sure how that works though.

Re: Shame on Classic League
If you leave your fate in other teams hands you don't always get the outcome you were wanting. In the last 3 years we have been in Classic this is the first forfeit that I have heard of. It's not like you have one every week or how ever long.

Re: Shame on Classic League
Lake Highlands Girls Classic spilt brackets and will have two divisions of 15 teams. Seems like a better idea than what Classic is doing?

Re: Shame on Classic League
The last 2 games in 02 D1 have been forfeits now. This is not a normal situation, who would have thought Classic would ever stretch into June. It is very problematic with teams that are moving, rebuilding etc.
Maxeffort, my advice is try to keep it low key for as long as possible.

Re: Shame on Classic League
Looking at the D1 schedule and results. These 2 forefeits have not decided anyones relegation. The last place team had no chance. Then FCD is one point behind Texans south. FCD has a game tomorrow against Solar. FCD controls their own fate. They win and they stay in D1. They lose and they get D2. If they want to stay in D1 them they better handle their business on the field tomorrow.

Re: Shame on Classic League
If DTS would have lost instead of getting a win from the Forfiet they would have been relegated. Also Mexico would be in a diff place as well. I am not with any of the teams in question, just taking an opportunity to point out CL failure

Re: Shame on Classic League
Why not just give everyone 1 forfeit each. That would be fair.....

Re: Shame on Classic League
"IF"! So if DTS won that game then you would have never posted this thread? Sure give every team 1 forfeit. If they want to use it so be it. If they want to get out on the field and play some ball then get after it.

Still would have posted. Not about DTS. This is about the continued failure of Classic League

Re: Shame on Classic League
Solar might forfeit, since a lot of these Solar kids will be trying out for PA or their own team tomorrow.
Stricker doesn't have anything to gain or lose.
I think DTS's fate is sealed.

Even with the other forfeit that didn't decide any relegation.

Re: Shame on Classic League
You're wrong. The forfeits and arbitrary "cancels without foreits" very much affected not only relegation but standings in the middle and subsequent points. To have some teams forfeiting and giving points away and others not given the opportunity to play all of their games is not excusable in my opinion. There are plenty of fields available to fit in these games. Just use a darn practice field of one of the teams if necessary. They already have our money and the money for the refs in hand.

Re: Shame on Classic League
If Mexico didn't get one forfeit and one cancellation, they would also be on the line for relegation. Ending a season with some teams playing all 18, others gifted wins and others completely having wins (or potential wins) removed is just wrong. End of story.

Re: Shame on Classic League
If a team wants to forfeit and look like a quitter then let them. Now the games that we're never given the opportunity to play then that is a different story.

Re: Shame on Classic League
I just gotta wonder about the motivations of the forfeiters. Their fate is sealed, so they give points away to help another. Smh. LP Owen also had the chance to move to 4th with a win over the cancelled game with Mexico (not forfeited). It's all a big cluster$&@@.

I had some folks from Denmark in town recently and I was teaching them simple Southern colloquialism like y'all and fixin'. During a meeting one of the guys asks, "If y'all is slang for you all what is the slang for we all or us all?"
I had a co-worker spit out his coffee when I replied "Weuns" or "Usuns"
I'm surprised they got out of Dallas alive. I took them to the firing range for some handgun training just in case. I gave one a Ruger SR45 and the other a S&W 357 revolver to play with.
Yeehaw!

Re: Shame on Classic League
The games that we're canceled and not rescheduled would not have any effect on the relegations. But I would still want the chance to play. Like you said we already payed for it.

Re: Shame on Classic League
But it's not a fact. As I said, Mexico got gifted a win and a cancellation. And DTS was gifted a win. Mexico and Goncalves would have been tied without that and DTS would be behind. That is, if both LP teams would have beaten Mexico. A tie tonight for Goncalves would have meant a lot. At least I think I have this right. Lol

Re: Shame on Classic League
And goal differential could have been substantial for any ties. 1-0 (3 point gifts) and non played games with no goals is not righ and affects standings based on any potential differentials.
Basically I think they messed up royally here and as one parent, I have to say I am very VERY disappointed in CL on this one.

Re: Shame on Classic League
Those teams (coaches) that decided to take the chicken $#&@ route and forfeit are the ones you should be upset with. There are a lot of things that CL can do better but they can't control if a team forfeits or not. That is on the integrity of the coach. I'm sure those kids wanted to go out there and play. But hey what can they do.

Re: Shame on Classic League
I just know this (was told second hand). A certain person with CL contacted a certain coach and tried to persuade them to forfeit. Certain coaches refusal to forfeit resulted in certain game being cancelled instead. CL isn't purely innocent in this regard.
