Re: Shame on Classic League
I just know this (was told second hand). A certain person with CL contacted a certain coach and tried to persuade them to forfeit. Certain coaches refusal to forfeit resulted in certain game being cancelled instead. CL isn't purely innocent in this regard.

Re: Shame on Classic League
Well, good for the coaches who chose to proceed with the 18 games that the team paid for.

Want didn't translate to will. CL made sure of that.

And it has happened! Forfiets decided how D1 finished up. Guessing FCD Central Premier will not exist as FCD Premier and FCD Central will be in D1 next year. If Central Premier does play next year their fate may be similar to FCD Red. I hope they combine these two teams. This would allow them a chance to get back to D1 next year. Time will tell.

What is the fate of FCD Red? Do you really think that these two teams will combine?

FCD held their fate in their hands. Win and they stay an lose and they drop. They didn't get it done so that's it.

Mexico got a free win otherwise they would have been tied with FCD.

Re: Shame on Classic League
Mexico also benefited from a cancel otherwise their goal differential would have been substantially worse than FCD in tie break. And the free points were given by the #1 team no less.

Re: Shame on Classic League
Like I said in an earlier post. If a team handles their business on the field through out the season then they won't have to worry about another team getting a freebie or a cancled game. I know you can't always win them all but a tie instead of a loss or a win instead of a tie and that team is still in D1, D2, or D3. If you leave it up to other teams then you are rolling the dice and you might get burned.

Re: Shame on Classic League
But keep in mind the schedule. Some play the top teams first and others at the end of the season. The forfeit came from top team that the other team had to play and lose to. It's not apples to apples. If all teams played the same and there were forfeits then I'd agree with your premise.

Agree. There is a reason why teams play each other twice, and why there a typically sanctions for a Forfiet.

Re: Shame on Classic League
Hey I would rather have FCD in over DTS but it didn't happen. BB has a friend and former teammate on that FCD team. I feel bad for him but they had a sub par season this year. Hopefully they can get it together and play like they did last year and move back up to D1.

Re: Shame on Classic League
I hear you on that, manufan20. BB also has a few friends on the DT South and Mexico team. So, we're happy that they get to play in D1 next year.
They're all 12 and 13 years old, so no need for anyone to get their panties in a wad about the forfeits.
Don't blame Classic League, and don't blame the coaches who decided that their teams are in, so no need to continue.
If these teams had performed well during the rest of the season, they wouldn't have to worry about 1 last game.
I'm pretty sure that I would be upset (maybe) if my BB's team had gotten relegated because of games not played. But this didn't happen.
DT South, and both FCD teams will have to pick it up this upcoming season due to no PA players being able to dual roster.
There are a lot of talent in the South (Arlington League). Maybe Mexico and DT South can acquire some of that talent.
Sadly, Texans, LP, Solar, FCD are too expensive for some of these players. So these are opportunities lost.

Re: Shame on Classic League
manufan, I agree with you that FCD needed to handle their business and not rely on others. It is never good to rely on others to bail you out. Does not make sense that DTS & Mexico got a free pass and FCD didn't but like I tell my kids life isn't always fair.
Snookums you said somewhere else that "FCD used a lot of PA players". As far as I am aware Goncalves didn't use any and Pino only used two 03 players.

Re: Shame on Classic League
I'll blame whoever I want. It didn't affect my kids team much. But it was CL that initiated the forfeits and cancellations and it did affect Mexico, FCD and DTS. Regardless of opinion, it did. And remember, one team got gifted 3 points from the #1 team to pull out of relegation while the other team had to play and lose to them. It's was handled very poorly in my opinion. I'll leave it there
