Now that we've all written our checks hoping for a better season, what has changed? Were all teams able to make a roster? Who left where and why? The big question from last year was "Is D3 better than D2?". I find it impossible to think that will be the case this year as the age pure dust settles, and think we will have to wait and see spring tournament results before revisiting these claims.

I decided to explore the rankings and see if there was anything worth pointing out. I averaged the the top 50 rankings for NTX across US Soccer and GotSoccer. After which I compared those averaged rankings to their new divisional rank. I think this data is fairly valid since we have had 1 year of age pure play and it is balanced across ranking systems.  

What I found is a bit on why I think D3 and D2 are considered very competitive as well as D1 to a lesser extent. When you average the divisional rankings you can see they are ordered as one may expect.  However, when you look at the median (if you remember - it is the "middle" value in the rankings), you will see the median of D3 is quite a bit higher than D2.

D1 has an avg and median which are close which suggests very competitive among one another (well minus FCD Premier).  
D2 similarly has a mean and median which are close.
D3 has a median of 16.5. This is very skewed and looking at the data the bottom 4 teams are going to have a tough time vs. the top 6 ranked teams.

I also took a look at the avg rank of the top clubs out of top 50 teams.  I'm not sure there is much to read into here.  FCD has a lot of feeder teams towards the backend of group.  The Texans strong position was pretty impressive.  And it looks like FC premier bought Falls Town 04 to add another 04 to their group.
