2012 HS WARM-UP

My son plays in district 11/4A. Both Argyle and Birdville are in this district.

There is no 3A division in UIL soccer because there are not enough smaller schools in Texas with high school soccer programs. Therefore, all schools that are 3A and smaller must play in a 4A district.

Argyle is a 3A school by enrollment so they play 3A in their other mainstream sports. Likewise, Lovejoy is a 3A school but play 4A soccer as well. In fact, Lovejoy won district last year and made it to the Region 2 final before losing 1-0 against Kilgore. Lovejoy will be one of the 4A teams to watch this year.

Next year, Lovejoy will be a true 4A school.

has anyone played any scrimmages yet?

For the 5A list, several of the "usual suspects" are there, as expected.

Knowing almost nothing about their programs, I did not anticipate seeing Hebron or N. Crowley. Does anyone know about them?

Is there a particular Classic league with a substantial presence on their campus, or a couple really strong players returning, or something?

Is "Lewisville Marcus" the team I think of as Flower Mound Marcus?

Yes, Lewisville Marcus is Flower Mound Marcus. They are part of Lewisville ISD.

This year in high school will be different without some of those academy kids however....if it works out well then we may see some good team play. South Lake won last year with good team play and a lot of heart. They had some outstanding players but they played as a team. Let the games begin.

Know of two, one in 4A and one in 5A, each a very high quality player. I am sure there are more.

Agreed. While High School soccer will take a hit from DA, there is still a lot of talent from boys that certainly could have gone DA, but chose not to for a variety of reasons.
