well so far for 5-A....8-5A seems to be a strong district...I think Hebron, Allen, FM Marcus, and Plano will fight for top spot....7-5A is a close second and the early over-all “Fav” seems to be Coppell, they utilize their speed well and should make a good run towards state. 9-5A Berkner sits atop the Dallas schools and boasts an impressive win over Southlake, but they haven’t played Jesuit yet. 10-5A Boyd should take their district...have not seen any of the other teams play yet…in 4-A Lovejoy looked well balanced but seems they lost their top player…Has anyone watched Turner or Prosper?...any other thoughts or comments on games watched?

I was an early fan of Boyd, but after watching them play, not so much. They struggle to maintain possession and rely too much on size and speed to finish the ball. Teams I'm looking forward to watching soon is Jesuit, Southlake and Gall.

There's a high school named for Gall?

Do all soccer coaches request that?

Good synopsis CH1. There will be a couple of darn good teams in 8-5A left out of the playoff hunt that could easily win most other districts. Too bad they can only take 4.

Hmmm. Don't agree entirely. I reffed the Boyd/Jesuit scrimmage and it was very evenly matched (1-1). It will depend on how each team gels during the year.

Hap, I watched Boyd vs Arlington Sam Houston play to a 0-0 draw. Both teams played a very clean game. Sam Houston has a pretty good defense. Their offense needed to pass more in the attacking third to setup a finishing shot. Boyd couldn't get behind the defense consistently.

No, he really did. Great player...hasn't gotten a ton of playing time thus far on the varsity team but has probably proven himself now. Was offered a spot on the FCD Academy team, but did not want to have to give up the opportunity for HS.

I'll play for 5-A:

4-5A: Arlington

7-5A: Coppell (2nd toughest district - Carroll seems to be down and Coppell way up so far. Keller is OK but lost too many to academy)
8-5A: Plano (Toughest district - going on a hunch that Plano will edge Marcus. Allen, Hebron, and FM also players here).
9-5A: Jesuit (easy pick - they look improved over last year)
10-5A: Boyd
11-5A: Longview

Most of the usual suspects should do well in the playoffs. Coppell, Plano, Jesuit, Boyd, and Marcus are my top 5 (please don't shoot). Allen could also enter the conversation although early tournament play has been mixed

My son played select and high school simultaneously several years back. Intrested to see how the changes will affect quality of games I watch at Marcus.
