Whats up with Waco Blast?
Are the (Waco Blast / Texans) going to field a team in D2 this season?
Will there be 2 or 3 Texans teams?
If not, who gets the D2 spot?

Dallas Texans 98 Red FTW
Yes, there will be 3 Dallas Texans teams in D2. The previous Waco Blast bye from D1 regelated to D2 will be filled by a team out of the Fort Worth Division. This team has played together many years and has a very strong core. Looking to add players to finalize roster for this D2 spot.
Open practices are every Monday and Wednesday from 7-8:45pm at the following location:
South Hills High School - Southwest Fort Worth
6101 McCart
Fort Worth, TX 76133
Try-outs will be help July 1-3 at Harold Patterson in Arlington (More info to come)

Team was Aledo FC, played API D1. Unlucky in past qualifying tournaments but always showed well in tournaments even versus classic teams. See gotsoccer for past tournament results and opponents.

What quialifying tournaments were they unlucky in? Any other tournaments could have had guest players, right?Gunit2012 wrote:Team was Aledo FC, played API D1. D3 challenge tournament in the past when trying to get into classic, that's the qualifying tournaments I'm referencing. Hope that helps.

Wow, sounds like the the Comets team FCD put into D2 last year. Finished dead last. Get ready for a long old year.

Re: Whats up with Waco Blast?
Qualifiers are certainly a pain. D2 is a long ways from APL or PPL. Hopefully you have picked up 5-6 players who have experience at that level to add to your core. Best of luck!

Re: Whats up with Waco Blast?
so what happened to all the players from the waco blast team? did the texans just gobble them up for their d2 spot and send them packing back to waco with nothing?

Re: Whats up with Waco Blast?
This type of move seems to make a mockery of the whole qualifying and promotion process while highlighting the power held by the giant clubs. Teams fight and struggle to get a chance at DIII only to see a non-qualifying team leapfrog to DII by getting hitched to a large club. Sad to see a small club (Waco) go so far and wind up being a doormat for a giant club.

Re: Whats up with Waco Blast?
Agreed, Dropball. I don't know if South Texas still does it this way, however, they used to have a 50% +1 rule. Under this rule, a team could not remain in their slot unless a majority of players returned for the following season. Additionally, if the majority of the players became disenchanted by the club and/or coach - they could move and bring their placement to the new club/coach. The last point could be a bit sticky and required some finesse - but under no circumstances could the club continue without a majority of players. I suppose the politics of STX were more "power to the people" than they are here.

Re: Whats up with Waco Blast?
HN doesn't give a damn about d2. He got the waco team to try and influence the results and get their season results forfieted. That would have put texans in 8th place in D1 and keeping a texan team in D1. Once the efforts failed he had no more use for them, bye bye have fun in waco because I am giving your spot to ft worth.

Re: Whats up with Waco Blast?
Gunit-- this was the old FW Untd Gold according to 2011 Got soccer resutls. They finished 6th out of 7th teams in the 2011 old D3 challenge rules. Did not earn invite last year to qualify and did not challenge under the "open" format this year for D3. So I assume the decision was made already to assume the D2 spot this year .Gunit2012 wrote:D3 challenge tournament in the past when trying to get into classic, that's the qualifying tournaments I'm referencing. Looking at the gotsoccer results for the last 12-18 months, i would argue that the team was "average at best", sorry. They lost to several of the teams that just competed in the challenge tourney, who didn't make D3 this year. They did beat some lower level API or non-NTX teams in API and Tourneys. I only see 2 games against Classic teams back in May 2012, but that was Toros (lost 0-1) and HP Drifters (lost 0-3) before they both qualified for D3 last year.
I do wish you luck and hope your experience in D2 is better than the Comets who were a decent team jumping from 3rd in Plano to D2. I do agree with another poster that I think it is wrong to allow teams/clubs to do this. Last year 2 teams out of Plano did this and both had tough years. Comets dropping to D3 and FC Untd (Andro Gold) finished 8th in D3 and then did not requalify for D3.

2013-14 version of the Comets Blue to FCD D2 spot. How'd that work out again.

Unless they are GIVEN 7-8 ballers.--I see the result being worse than FCD Comets. The adage that "anything can happen" -- is nice to throw out, but we know that doesn't happen with NTX club soccer.Rooneyhasplugs wrote:EOB wrote:Gunit-- this was the old FW Untd Gold according to 2011 Got soccer resutls. Where is your optimism, EOB? Anything CAN happen. It just won't happen more than once or twice over the 18 games!

Love how quick you are to go with the conspiracy theory. Say it to his face, don't come out hear and make claims and jabs unless you have the cojones to say it to their faces. Just tired of folks repeatedly bashing others, whether it be HN or KS or whomever, without direct knowledge or the balls to say it directly to the individual.

Don't know if you are right or not, but I don't see how he could pull off that kind of switch. Surely if Waco agreed to go Texans, they would have obtained some kind of assurance that their team could continue in D2. Were the Waco folks really so foolish or so passive that they would let HN replace them in D2 with the Pride of Arlington II?
