Figured the Supercopa for 2014 needs its own thread.
So who are the favorites?

Re: Dallas Premier Supercopa 2014
As a follow up on the Supercopa, it is my understanding the tournament is making efforts to bring in teams from Spain, France and other countries to make this an international event.
The age groups will be 05, 04, 03 and 02s. Not sure how they will decide the invites, but most likely only the top four or so teams from NTX will be invited.
This event will arguably be the best youth tournament in the Country for this age group again this year and a chance for our kids to play teams from other countries without leaving home.
Look forward to seeing the invited teams list over the next few months.

I am curious if any teams have received an invite to this tournament? It says on their site that invites started going out on August 26th.

Re: Dallas Premier Supercopa 2014
Now that they have a bit of track record for attracting competition and doing a (IMO) good job with the whole deal, they just might decide to make a bit more $ on the frontside with their local invites (via qualifying tourneys rather than handouts). Conjecture.
I don't know of any '03 teams who received a special invite. But then my social circle is limited to other parents of losers and underachievers. I would guess your best bet is to ask the defending champs.

Re: Dallas Premier Supercopa 2014
That's comical. Farley's team was invited? I had heard he coordinated this tournament last yr, this just confirms it. In the past two months he has lost to Pomykal, Rosales, and Gall -- and tied Shankly, Titans, and Rayos. And, there is no way his team can beat SR. So, that makes his team 5th or 6th best right now...
This can't be based on the performance last yr in Supercopa tournament either b/c while SR won, Pomykal's team finished 4th -- in the top bracket of the playoff system (so, while one Gall parent wrote that SR was best team in the country…that would mean Pomykal's was 4th best team in country). Farley's team qualified for mid-level playoffs in last supercopa...
And, even with Farley "gaming" the local tournaments here (as he did with tournament his team played in a couple of wks ago), there is no way to avoid playing a good team eventually -- as they did in their last tournament when Gall beat them. Playing their way into the supercopa by winning a local tournament probably isn't possible for them, so I guess this is their only way in.
I will be first to admit FCD is down right now in this age grp (so no FCD team deserves an invite), but there is no way Farley should be in this tournament over Pomykal, or Rosales for that matter. Even though I have written previously that I didn't think Gall's team was as good as their parents make them out to be -- Gall should be invited to this tournament over Farley based on their head to head performance over the past few months. This isn't opinion, this is based on recent performance/record.
This tournament is a fantastic idea, the best teams in this area should attend.
I don't remember these types of slights occurring with my older ones, but maybe that's because the soccer landscape has changed a lot in the past 5 to 7 yrs. Politics plays more of a role now that it seemed to before.

Re: Dallas Premier Supercopa 2014
For 04s, I could see Pomykal, Farley, Rosales or Gall doing well in the tourney. Looks like three spots left and a large group trying to get in. Should make U90 challenge a good fight for last spot.
For'02 s, I hope they get Surf Academy to come. SR Lost to them in Quarterfinals of Surf Cup and they are best 02 team I have ever seen.

Re: Dallas Premier Supercopa 2014
According to the website, Farley's team is already in -- so that would mean that Pomykal and Rosales (both way better than Farley based on overall record/head to head, etc.) and Gall's team would be competing for last spot. SR and Pomykal did a lot better than Farley in first Supercopa and would do same this time around. Now that I think about it, I think Farley stuck Pomykal's team in same bracket during last Supercopa as the team from California that ended up playing SR in the final -- and they still finished higher than Farley. More power to him, as the kids say -- but, there is no way his team is 2nd best in this age grp, they can't win a local tourney with a few of the top 10 local teams entered even when his teams are in the easiest grps...Sprint wrote:For 04s, I could see Pomykal, Farley, Rosales or Gall doing well in the tourney. Really Sprint? I thought for sure you would of said DTS is the best team you've ever seen? Especially since they beat you everytime......over and over and over.....again and again and again. It's okay Sprint you still got the 04's you can feel good about! Lol!

Re: Dallas Premier Supercopa 2014
I am not basing that on wins and losses, and that plays very little credence on my opinion. In my view Surf Academy and I would also include TFA from Southern California, are better than any teams in NTX and play better soccer than I have seen from U12s. Just my opinion. If the tourney could get Surf or TFA to come out to Texas that would be an incredible boost for the status of the field.Liverpool00/02 wrote:Really Sprint? Don't worry about me, I look forward to any games my kids are playing in, be it 3v3, Classic, SDL or Futsal, as I am sure you do with your kids. I saw DTS did well in Disney so congrats to you and your team.

Re: Dallas Premier Supercopa 2014
I'm not worried about you, and don't congratulate me, my son doesn't play for DTS. I've made it very clear who my son plays for. He doesn't even play in D1. But I'm not worried or obsessed with him just being on a D1 team right now like a lot of other dads. He's where he needs to be right now, and progressing just fine. It's a marathon, not a sprint. But I am a DTS fan, have been now for a while, along with many other teams in the age group, I think it's one of the deepest age groups in awhile with talent. But let me tell you what I do find comical about your post. You claim that Southern Cali teams are the best, or play the best, which I DO NOT disagree with. I have known for a long time that So Cal produces the top talent in the country, for the most part. BUT, I think NTX is a close second in producing top players. But the funniest part in all this is that you claim to be such a fan of So Cal soccer, and their style of play, cause you have so much experience playing those teams, but the current team your 02 is on plays NOTHIN like So Cal teams. Your style of soccer is complete opposite of the teams in So Cal. The only teams that I've seen play close to those teams from southern Cali are DTS and Fc Dallas premier play very good soccer. I don't think your teams style of play is even close to those other teams. Not trying to be confrontational, just what I see and my opinion.

Re: Dallas Premier Supercopa 2014
I decided to do some research and try and convince U90c that my BB's team deserved an invitation in the Supercupa tournament. I looked at the results from tournaments in the past year {we all know thats when these coaches coach to win and stack their teams with their favorite guest players and makes for the best competition} and as long as the tournament had at least 2 of the top 10 teams in the tournament or comparable competition against 03 teams or out of state teams than considered it a quality tournament. I gave points for teams performance. 3 points for semis, 6 points for finals and 9 points for winning. If a team didnt make the semis of a tournament they entered I took away points. Here is what my research showed, not what I hoped for, but people give me a hard time for sharing opinions rather than facts
FC Dallas Mansfield results were surprising FCD_24 you say FCD is down right now, but it looks like FCD should combine their two teams on that list and they would have a very good tournament team.
1. Solar Red - 36 points/average 9 points {4 tournaments entered, every tournament they have entered in the past year they have won}
2. Solar Chelsea Farley - 36 points/average 6 points {6 tournaments entered, won 1 tournament}
3. DT Pomykal - 27 points/average 4.5 points {6 tournaments entered, won two tournaments a year ago playing up}
4. Dallas Rush Gall - 21 points/average 3.5 points {6 tournaments entered, won 1 tournament}
5. FC Dallas Mansfield - 15 points/average 5 points {3 tournaments entered, won 1 tournament}
6. FC Dallas Gomez - 15 points/average 3.75 points {4 tournaments entered, won 1 tournament}
7. DT Rosales - 6 points/average 1 point {4 tournaments entered, 0 wins}
8. Liverpool RASE - 0 points/average 0 points {6 tournaments played, 0 wins}
