How did everyone do last evening? D1 scores seem to not be posted yet??

Any commentary from last night's D1 games? Not sure if this is new news, but did LP Hunt change out its coach?

The scores are posted now.  Commentary on the FCD vs Solar Stricker game:  both teams looked tired for 70 mins.  Solar Red missed several scoring opportunities in the 1st 1/2 but FCD didn't fair much better.  FCD had a goal waived off for offsides in the 1st 1/2.  5 mins into the 2nd 1/2 they scored, were offsides again but it wasn't called.  They then turned Solar back time after time for 20 more mins, then in the 23rd min Solar scored the tying goal.  Then 2 mins before the game ended, Solar's left forward hit a screamer past the keeper, barely missing the back post but it was gathered & put in beautifully by the right forward.  Seconds later the whistle blew.  Painful loss for FCD & dramatic win for Solar Stricker.

I did not notice who was coaching LP Hunt. Whoever it was showed up late, there was a dad warming them up when I was paying attention.

They didn't have many kids and got tired. Judging from misconduct info, they are going to have even less kids for their upcoming games.

On a different note, I have heard good things about the new coach (past experiences seem to be very positive)... Team has talent, so maybe there is a new look coming for them, and best of luck moving forward... As for the match:. I'm just glad that Odyssey looked loose while maintaining focus for a change... Weird how spring weather causes the dreaded break from soccer (which only helps teenage boys to re-establish their love for the game)...

Good game between Solar Red and LP Rush today. Solar won 2-0. What impressed me the most was what occurred early in the 2nd half..... A Solar player fouled a LP player from behind with a hard foul (but not with intent to hurt anyone), the foul was a forearm to the back of the head and a knee to the back. An Ambulance was called and there was tremendous concern. What impressed me the most was how the boys from Solar huddled together with the LP boys and prayed together for the injured LP player. For a moment the boys put each other first, over their teams or clubs or competitive spirits. Just before the game restarted players from both teams were talking at midfield, smiling and laughing. A foul like this could have easily lead to a terrible outcome of paybacks and fighting, but this was not the case. Both teams showed tremendous character and played a very clean (though physical and challenging) game to the end. Hats off to the way the Solar team responded after committing the foul and the way LP Rush continued the game.

Update: The LP Player was released from the hospital and appears to be ok.

Yes a hard fought game between LP Rush & Solar Red.  I'm so relieved to hear the young man is OK.  That has to be every parents nightmare.  Standing directly beside the play it didn't look harder than any other foul on the field.  I completely agree there was no intent to injure.  It looked more like a knee to the back & a whiplash affect because none of us saw a forearm.  We saw the kid go down but couldn't tell if he was holding the back of his head or his neck.  When he tried to stand he went back down.  When the coach came out & I'm assuming asked him questions he seemed to answer but his legs wobbled.  We were shocked he wasn't required to leave the field & we started telling the refs that's a concussion, he needs to leave the field but the refs looked like "hey the coach & kid say he's ok" so ok.  Then the young man took a few more steps & collapsed in the box.  It was a scary scene.  The Solar & LP players showed nothing but class & compassion with their group prayer.  They reminded us all that this is just a game & that these are kids.  I was surprised the game wasn't called but I'm assuming both teams decided to finish.  The game didn't get any less physical after that as there was a pretty big hit in the box just before the game ended.  Again super glad the injured LP player is OK.

Ody and Castro tied 1-1. Both teams scored a goal. It was kind of cold.

Three league games in four days is kind of suboptimal. At a MINIMUM, BB and school friends have 12 games in 25 days. Which is more games than the 01PA teams will likely play all year. They very carefully avoid HS soccer for the older half of this age group which just piles it on for the younger kids playing middle school soccer.

It will prepare them better for when they are in EPL on Man U and have to play in the FA Cup, EPL and Champions league all during the same season.
