Classic League for Upcoming U11 Season
As we approach the first year of select, I thought I would come to the experts to help answer some of my questions
Can someone explain to me how Classic League works? How many teams qualify for classic league the first year? Are there D1 and D2 groupings for U11? How does the qualifying tournament work?
Thanks for helping out a newbie

Re: Classic League for Upcoming U11 Season
The qualifying tournament can vary each year, but typically the format is:
Classic League, U11
Classic League, U12
At least...I "think" that is how it works.
- 50-60 teams entered will be divided amongst 10 brackets that will play the first weekend of QT
- Bracket winners automatically qualify for CL D1
- Bracket losers are eliminated
- 2nd weekend of QT will determine remaining spots for D1 and the 10 spots for D2...all others eliminated
- For U11 year, there are 30 CL teams...20 in D1 and 10 in D2
Classic League, U11
- For U11, D1 will consist of 20 teams that will all play each other once over the entire year (10 games in the Fall and 9 games in the Spring)
- D2 will have 10 teams in U11 year and will play each other twice (9 games in Fall and 9 games in Spring)
Classic League, U12
- Top ten teams at end of year will be D1 for U12
- The next eight teams will be D2 for U12, the bottom two will move to D3 for U12
- The top two teams in U11 "D2" move into U12 "D2", while the next six teams will be in D3 for U12
- The bottom two teams in U11 D2 will be part of the challenge games for the last two spots of U12 D3
At least...I "think" that is how it works.

Call the U11 Commissioner for CL and she can help answer any questions. You can find her number on the CL website..

You can also go to the CL website and pull up the rules. There is more detail there.

Re: Classic League for Upcoming U11 Season
Dreambig,
Can you provide any more detail as to how the QT tournament works? You said that the teams are amongst 10 brackets, what does that mean? Is that regular "group/pool" play, round-robin style, like in most other tournaments? Or, is it a seeded bracket with winner advancing to next round and losers out? And can you tell me what happens if your team does not win the bracket, how do you qualify during the second weekend of play? The CCSAI has posted the tournament rules as of Friday but they are only rules, there is no discussion of the actual format. And when I emailed the tournament director I was told to check the website. I can't seem to find anything on the actual format. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

it's round robin style. first in bracket qualifies for d1, 2nd & 3rd go the second weekend (where it's decided d1 or d2) and 4th &5th are going to ppl or apl. I'm sure DB has some further insight.klangston wrote:Dreambig,

Re: Classic League for Upcoming U11 Season
Does anyone know how to the the gotsoccer.com page to let you register your team for the upcoming Classic QT? From the Classic League's website you are re-routed when you click the registration hyperlink to the gotsoccer.com page to register. But, if you are an existing U-10 team the gotsoccer.com page says "No groups available for Boys U10. Your application can not be submitted." You cannot change the age of your team on your gotsoccer.com homepage, it specifically says that you must use the dropdown list which continues to list 00's as "U-10". It says that it will automatically change their age on August 1, 2010. That, as you know is two weeks AFTER the QT registration deadline of July 14th!! Not much good if you can't register before the deadline. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
