U11 Classic D1
Teams are set.
FCD Academy
DT Dallas
DT Red
Solar McKinney
Allegiance Black
Elite United
Liverpool Owen
Solar Kennington
Dallas Rebels
FCD Youth
AYSES Gold
ETX Wildcatters
NTX Celtic
FCD Youth Blue
Fever United
FCD Youth ETX Premier
Garland Tigre's
FCD Youth West Blue
DT South
Liverpool St John
If history holds true to form, the top half of the list will play the bottom half of the list in the fall, then the top half plays each other while the bottom half plays each other in the spring so barring upsets, should be a lot of teams with limited losses in the fall.
Finishing order is almost irrelevant given the number of boys that'll be leaving for DA at u12. The real question is who gets relegated and loses their D1 bye.
Early Relegation Predictions - FCD Blue, Tigre's, FCD West Blue, and Liverpool St John
Of note, FCD put 5 teams into D1, DT put 3 teams in, Solar and Liverpool put 2 teams each in. Balance are independents or small clubs. Solar and FCD are the surprises. I'd have reversed those estimates going into qualifying so a much deserved well done to FCD (even if the brackets seemed stacked to put their teams through those teams still had to perform and they did).

Another fun way to look at it: FCD entered 10 teams, Solar 9, Texans and Liverpool both had 4 each.
Ranked by highest success rate:
Texans 75%
FCD 50%
Liverpool 50%
Solar 22%

I know the small independents were 100% for the most part but this discussion is about the big 4

even adjusted it would have been 66% Â (2 out of 3). Â But let's not get too technical. Â Its just for fun, it means nothing.

Re: U11 Classic D1
How many teams get relegated at the end of the year?
And will DA affect that number? Seems like 3-5 full teams could move over to DA at that time.

Re: U11 Classic D1
Very unlikely you have full teams moving.
4 teams get relegated to D2 and 4 come up from D2.
If recent history is any indication, DA teams are 75 to 80% formed from within the club's top 3 to 5 teams with the core of the group (5 to 7 players) coming from the team whose coach just got the DA job (if he had a team in the same age group). The other 20 to 25% of players coming from other independent clubs.

Re: U11 Classic D1
So take FCD for example. Do you expect that there will still be an FCD Academy and FCD Youth team playing in Classic next year? If Blue survives relegation, where would they get the 20+ kids to fill up two competitive D1 teams?

From their other teams. All they need to do is advertise in their other teams a spot at a D1 team....happens every year....plus kids from disgruntled parents of independent D2 or PPL teams....

Re: U11 Classic D1
Plus, for U12, the bottom six teams in D2 get the boot and will have to attempt re-qualify through the Classic League Challenge Tournamenr. Â
At U-13, the bottom sixteen teams get the boot from Classic League and have to attempt to re-qualify through the Classic League Challenge Tournament, but there will only be six open spots. Â Also, at that age, only the top two teams in D2 (which is really D3) get moved up to D2, and the bottom two teams in D1 (19th and 20th) get relegated to D3.

Re: U11 Classic D1
Should be a fun competitive year in D1. Lots of good teams. My son is looking forward to the competition in D1. I just hope Classic gets it together and become less lenient with punishments. Very sad to hear about the FCD kid who threw a punch this last weekend at another player. There should he zero tolerance here.

Re: U11 Classic D1
A few teams were surprising entrants to D1. A special congratulations to them. I for one am curious to find out whether they are beneficiaries of the 1. unorthodox tourney setup, 2. played above their head for a weekend, or 3. truly improved as a team.
For my money its
1. Tigres
2. LP St John
3. FCD W Blue and TXN South
I'll be curious to see how the next few months play out. After the high of making D1, the reality of getting beat up week in and week out, hanging out in the relegation zone can make for a very long year.

Re: U11 Classic D1
A report of the FCD Youth -LP Owen epic battle started on another thread but I thought it made sense to move it over here since both teams made D1.
I'm already on record saying I didn't want to debate the appropriate penalty (ie length of suspension) for the offender but after hearing some of the details I'm compelled to weigh in.
Most of us, myself included, hear about punches thrown and assume that their was some type of scuffle, shirt pulling, shoving, etc...that escalated as an immature kid lost his cool. Â While I don't condone this as anyway I do see where it can happen and I don't necessarily jump to conclusions on the character of the participants. Â There was the expected (from these two teams) hand checking, shirt tugging, physical play all game between these two players. Â However the actual incident took place trailing the play as the LP player was transitioning back to defense, the FCD player came up from behind and elbowed him (MMA style) in the back of the head with enough Hodor to knock the LP player down cold. Â I have a hard time even wrapping my head around how despicable that is... Â
The standard penalty for a red card is game ejection and suspension for the following game. Â Classic and NTSSA have the responsibility to review the incident and have the discretion to increase the suspension. Â I for one hope they do their due diligence and sit this kid down for at least 10 games. Â And I wouldn't be opposed to a full year.

Probably a good idea to let the professionals handle it and move on. Â Hopefully someone with a lot more experience is talking to the 10 year old to see if something else is causing this sort of aggression during a 10 yr old soccer game. Â Kind of ridiculous to me to just jump at a year suspension when something else could be behind this. Â
Just my $0.02. Â Might be best to let those in the know address this and not some semi-pros (yes, we're close) continue to give uneducated opinions.

Re: U11 Classic D1
So...."if something else is causing this aggression" does it diminish the problem caused by the behaviour?
If you're kid was the recipient of an elbow to the head, that could have the risk of potentially causing a concussion, broken neck or spinal injury, i bet you would feel differently...

Behavior could be what caused the problem. You think a one year suspension for a kid that could potentially be having an issue at home or at school is the right answer? I am just saying that the people in charge will do the right thing and abide by their own rules once they gather all the information. I promise you that they do not care what us "forum experts" feel should be the right punishment. Thankfully, we aren't the ones in charge....
I would not feel differently if it was my son. I would feel bad for the kid that did throw a punch at my son because he is a beast!!!

Re: U11 Classic D1
it happened in the girls QT, red card if for that event and does not seem to be carrying over into season. both teams qualified d1 so it didnt matter to them as they did not have to play the next weekend. not sure the rules on the boys side but it could end with the event.

Re: U11 Classic D1
Watched the game, not a parent, FCD player did get a red card for "pushing" LP player not "PUNCHING."
As aggressive as the game was I'm certain that would have truly been some blows if a kid had been punched. Certain that LP Owen head coach and parents would have reported the incident.

Not a parent either, and I was also there. I know a punch when I see one. AND that was clearly a punch. Let's Call it what it was.

First week's games are scheduled. Its the same teams you played in QT. You play the team that made D1 from your crossover bracket.

Re: U11 Classic D1
Week 1 nuggets-
1. Classic didn't re-seed based on tourney results. The bracket winners are seeded exactly how they were for the tourney 1-20. Not sure how much it matters but I find it interesting all the same.
2. No need to wait for LP Owen - FCD Youth rematch. Week 1, 8AM. Refs/Marshalls need to be on their toes.

Re: U11 Classic D1
The LP Owen and FCD Youth rematch should be a great one to watch. These teams are now legit rivals. I'm gonna make it my business to go and watch. FCD has beaten LP in both of their recent matchups (King Tut, Classic QT), so LP Owen should be very aggressive in this one. I don't anticipate any punches thrown, but I fully expect the refs to be busy sorting through the physicality of it all. The Parents and Coaches might be another issue. I won't even bring a seat, just in-case it gets testy on the sidelines and a rapid exit becomes necessary..lol
