Memorial Day Cup
As a parent of a boy on 98 ASG Gold West, I have to say that we are very proud of our team. As a D3 team with 3 player additions from another D3 team, we are in the semi-finals. We beat both the DFW Tejanos and TFC, which was the reining 98 state champs. Great job boys! Keep up the great play on Memorial Day!

ASG lost to Andromeda 98 2-0, but the score did not indicate how close the game actually was. 0-0 with 8 minutes left and ASG had more chances than Andromeda. Andtomeda scored and ASG let down a bit for the 2nd goal. A GREAT JOB done by a D3 team that played 3 of the 4 Texas State quarter finalists!

Kuddos to ASG. Just proves that sometimes the D2/D3 teams can give those D1's a run for their money. Impressive showing.wahbs wrote:ASG lost to Andromeda 98 2-0, but the score did not indicate how close the game actually was. 0-0 with 8 minutes left and ASG had more chances than Andromeda. And Andromeda beat Solar Red in the finals 1-0. ASG played very well in the Semi's. Now the player carrousel begins.

Re: Memorial Day Cup
There were several interesting results in that tourney. TFC Royal not only lost to ASG, but they had only a 1-0 win over FCDBlue from D2. Were they short on a key player or down for some other reason. Tejanos also got knocked off by lower level team, but then they got a win over Solar Red. And Pumas, who were relegated to D2, this spring, knocked off a couple of D1 teams. Quite a few upsets along the way really.

Re: Memorial Day Cup
That "other team" that knocked off Tejanos was also ASG Gold West. I agree that it was quite an unusual set of results though.
