03 Classic QT

How does Classic league seed the team? Is it by Gotsoccer? Youth soccer rankings? Pull out of a hat?

I think the way they seeded it last year, if I remember correctly, was they ranked the Classic D3 teams first (3rd-8th having to re-qualify), then the top PPL team and Arlington team, 9th place Classic D3 team (10th place team did not try out again). Then the rest of the teams were seeded afterwards based on their league records. It was pretty spot on to that with a few tweaks here and there. Then they did the snake seeding (assuming five brackets 1st in A, 2nd in B, 3rd in C, 4th in D, 5th in E, 6th in E, 7th in D, etc. then back down until all spots are filled. I would think that's the most fair way to do it. Im guessing they don't take into account strength of schedule, quality of opponents, etc...YET!

Any predictions on who gets the 6 spots? I'll start...

That might change after I see where they stand after all the rescheduled games finish up (if that ever happens)

Anyone know why they are filling 7 spots into D3 instead of 6? Are they promoting 3 teams from D3 to D2, 3 from D2 to D1 (they would still relegate 2 existing teams from D1 to D2 not counting the spot Texas Lightning ). Then they relegate the 2 from D1 to D2 and 2 from D2 to D3, hence needing 7 teams. Wait, then what about the protected 4th place team? I'm confused...

Ultimately they lost a team (Lightning), domino effect means they need to add one more team.  My understanding is that it goes like this:

D1:   Loses 2 (Lightning, Toshack).  Gains 2 from D2 (Hunt + Other)
D2:   Loses 3 (Hunt + Other Up, LP Elite Down).   Gains 3 (Toshack down, two from D3 Up)
D3:   Loses 2 (NTFC + Andro up).  Gains 1 (LP Elite).   Keeps 2 (3rd and 4th).  Thus needs 7.  

Only relegating one team from D1 and D2.   Current D3 teams have the same deal as always, they are just getting one team relegated into D3.  

I could be wrong.

I really hope I am wrong, but we shall see.

Another weekend rained out. I don't know if the league will be able to make up all the games prior to next weekend. With all the kids on planned vacations, or summer camps, they should reconsider the format for this year and go with what works in the other divisions. Send the two bottom teams down to PPL and Arlington and move up the PPL winner and the Arlington winner. Keep the teams already in Classic where they are. Simple enough. Although, I know that Classic will lose a ton of money doing that.

How would Classic League lose money. They have already played the first game of the challenge tournament. There will be no refunds.

The game we had was cancelled at halftime and has to be replayed. Its a shame since we were up 2-0.

Way too close to call..I don't have a dog in this fight but I've heard of some players pulling double duty due to NTX ODP Friendlies and other tourneys. Plus no telling what kids left for a planned summer vacation that could have caused some different results in some of these games...I'll take a stab at it...

Not much going on here on this topic, but I just wanted to say that it is sad that FPS had such a rough tournament... Every team has that "oops" game or bad weekend, and I think that the timing for those young men to have a hiccup came at the absolute worst time... FPS is a quality side, and would have qualified 9 times out of 10... Anyhow, condolences FPS; your team is Classic League material MOST of the time... To drive that far and do what you guys do for those boys, TONS of respect!

Interesting outcome for the 2nd round. Looks like a good division for the upcoming year. Although I think almost half of the table is FC Dallas Teams. Did Liverpool Fowler lose there D3 Bye to FCD Blue since Dean and team went over there?

Won't find out until the team registers and Classic is notified, but the team must re-sign 75% of the roster to take the bye with them.

Well, if you go by posts on here, the LFC team Callaghan coached by Tome Blencoe (LFC Callaghan) is advertising they are a Classic League team. That tells me LFC kept the bid unless something else crazy happened....
