How did these teams qualify for the Presidents Cup. In other states they have a Div.II state Cup and the champions qualify for regionals. I have never seen a listing for the DivII State Cup on the north Texas website. Insight would be greatly appreciated.

For boys,North Texas invites the top 3 teams in D3 at the end of the fall season. The team that finished in 1st gets 1st choice and so on. Other states play tournaments to determine who they send. I believe there are other tournaments of this type for D2 and D1 teams. Saying that, Odyssey is playing against IMG Soccer Academy in the finals (they defeated teams from Arkansas and Alabama, tied North Carolina, and then beat South Texas to reach the final).

Congratulations and good luck to all the teams participating in this Cup. Sure would like to North Texas open the rights to earn a spot to all teams wanting to try. there are some really good teams out there who cant participate in classic due to the current set of restrictions on qualifying. You would would think that the State leaders would love the revenue brought in by a tourney of this nature and it would allow teams in other leagues and areas of the north who cant afford to travel to DFW every weekend to try and earn the right to represent their state at a regional event. Why should all the spots automatically go to classic teams. What is wrong with the people who run youth soccer here. It seems like at every turn the small club or independent is dumped on or rules set in place to keep them from challenging for higher spots. Please dont start with oh there is 2 spots open every year. 2 spots for 30 or more teams some of which routinely beat D3 teams at tourneys but because that team doesnt finish 9th or 10th they are untouchable. Again not a very good way to develop our youth. but anyway GOOD Luck boys who are competing and remember if your going to embark on a journey strive to be the best you can at anything you do.

Irving Elite went to pk's after ot and lost. Odyssey lost 2-1 in ot. I believe both of these teams would be considered from a small club and BOTH worked their way up either thru Arlington or Plano. It was a fantastic tournament.
